Does anyone know if IHSA tourney is televised? I don't stream. Checked out IHSA website, said WCIU is doing it. Checked WCIU website programming. No mention. No mention on Comcast quide. What gives? Thanks.

In between watching the IHSA tournament I have been sampling the Louisiana State high school tournament.

Cleverly, they have named their tourney, ‘MARSH MADNESS!’.

Not a typo. MARSH Madness.

There are lots of bayous, swamps, and water areas in the Pelican State. Certainly the right place to host MARSH Madness. With a bit of a nod to The Prairie State along the way.

And yes, Illinois ball is better by comparison.

funny that the IHSA was the first state tournament to coin the phrase "March Madness"

I am in St. Louis and only do free TV. I remember getting the IHSA Football during Thanksgiving and seeing the IHSA girls last week. I think it may have been the MyTV channel. Hope this helps.

The name (and eventual trademark )“March Madness” has an interesting history.

A man named Henry V. Porter was assistant executive secretary of the Illinois High School Association. In 1939 he wrote an essay to describe the State tournament usiing the title, ‘March Madness’. The term was quickly picked up by others but was not used officially by IHSA until 1973. IHSA did not apply for a trademark on it until 1990 which was after the NCAA had started using the term in 1982. That set off court action (the legal kind of court).

It was decided that decided that due to IHSA not policing its rights, both NCAA and IHSA had rights to it. Since then, both organization work together to protect their claim on the term.

A couple lessons: Quickly protect your intellectual property. And sometimes you might end up working together down the line with a former adversary.

And now... back to the great action found on the kind of court we love. And over the years, both the IHSA and NCAA have developed truly signature events that have fully captured the World.

Benet Academy v New Trier is on Comcast - something called MyTV. Channel 49 over the air.

Watched semis all day on The U, channel 230 HD, Comcast here in northern Illinois. What fun. Boy, can a lot those kids sink free throws!

But it appears championship games tomorrow are only streamed on NHSA or whatever. That stinks.

There's nothing on the IHSA's website indicating this. If it's not on the main channel you watched it on yesterday, it may be on one of the digital sub-channels you get.
Yes, just found coverage on something called The CW26?, Comcast Channel 183. Great.

Thanks.

The Benet Academy point guard, Brayden Fagbemi is exactly the type of point guard Illinois needed this year. He's quick, a fantastic ball-handler, great distributor and very smart. Also shooting about 44% from three on the season. He also outplayed Dai Dai Ames when Benet beat Kenwood handily earlier this season.

Unfortunately he's only about 5'10 which is why he is going to Johns Hopkins and playing D-III.

No disrespect to the great region of Peoria... but it is so good to have the IHSA Tournament back on the hallowed floor that it belongs on. You can feel the energy of generations of great IHSA tourneys in that building.
While that may be the case, the University should make this a huge recruiting advantage. I’m here and literally saw a team doing a walk through in a hotel parking lot this morning.

Let them use Ubben to practice. Let them eat at the training tables. Heck, at least point then in the direction of some of the outdoor courts on campus.
