Anyone got this on YouTube TV?
I can't stand watching high school basketball tourny. It makes me want to implement a shot clock.
That is going to take a couple of school fundraiser. Then again the local 1A school has a play clock and a video board in footballNot sure if you're trying to be sarcastic or not but they are in the process of implementing this in Illinois. I've been told it will take at least 4 or 5 years before they fully implement it since most schools can't afford to install the shot clock at the moment. It was only used in a handful of holiday tournaments this season.
Perfect character fit.Yes, I admire Brock Harding. But it was bad form for him to wave an Iowa t-shirt at Assembly Hall /SFC after the game.
It's a nice idea, but anyone who's tried to watch 15-20 high school kids at a time knows this could be trouble. While that may be the case, the University should make this a huge recruiting advantage. I’m here and literally saw a team doing a walk through in a hotel parking lot this morning.
Let them use Ubben to practice. Let them eat at the training tables. Heck, at least point then in the direction of some of the outdoor courts on campus.
I hope his brother gives him some sh** for that.Yes, I admire Brock Harding. But it was bad form for him to wave an Iowa t-shirt at Assembly Hall /SFC after the game.
I can tell you think highly of the youth of America. It's a nice idea, but anyone who's tried to watch 15-20 high school kids at a time knows this could be trouble.
Kids are careless and might do damage without meaning to. Others may think it's funny to mess things up just because. When you sink millions of dollars into practice facilities, you don't just let anyone use them.
Touring would be cool, but I get not letting people into Ubben to practice
Yes, anything's better than a walk-through in a motel parking lot. Strictly bush league. Good points you made. I add that these kids are disciplined and are far, far more interested in playing a great game than in vandalism.I can tell you think highly of the youth of America.
You are talking about 12-14 kids. All of these teams had 3-5 coaches and a bunch of administrators there to pick up their medals. Let them babysit the kids if it’s needed.
Then put a temporary court and hoop in the indoor football or baseball facilities so they can go thru a walk thru indoors if you think all these kids are gonna break stuff.
Yes, I heard good music subliminally sort of on tv. Wondered where it was coming from. Thanks. Was at games all 3 days and the band yesterday from Wheaton St. Francis was easily the best one of the weekend. They had 5 singers, two or 3 guitar players, a keyboard player, a trombone player and some other brass instruments. I don't know if those of you watching on TV could really hear them or not but they had some great music they played throughout the day.
there are likely NCAA rules prohibiting the use of Ubben .While that may be the case, the University should make this a huge recruiting advantage. I’m here and literally saw a team doing a walk through in a hotel parking lot this morning.

Reminds me of the Cobden Appleknockers, 1964. Much larger school (150 or so) but this was before the class system. All high schools playing for the same single trophy. What am I gonna do today? I just love IHSA tourney coverage on tv. I am now a Scales Mound fan. Enrollment of 71! When next I travel to northwest Illinois on Route 20 (which I've done frequently), I'm gonna check out downtown Scales Mound and pay homage. Tourney coverage is a lesson in geography and fine basketball. Now I know where Metamora and Gibault are.

More Illinois geography! I love it. Love team names, Appleknockers, Pretzels, Wooden Shoes ...Reminds me of the Cobden Appleknockers, 1964. Much larger school (150 or so) but this was before the class system. All high schools playing for the same single trophy.
Sorry, don't know how to post link. Easy to google.
You know what. You made some points I didn’t consider. My apologies.I can tell you don't work with the youth of America.
If I told you even a quarter of careless things my athletes did, you'd understand why I made my comment. They're high school kids and very few of them are DI athletes. They're going to screw around. It's what kids do. I understand not wanting it done in a brand new, multimillion dollar facility.
You're also vastly overestimating the intelligence and capability of high school administrators. Failing up is a thing in our industry.
There are two other factors why we likely don't let anyone use Ubben. One, both the men's and women's teams are gearing up for NCAA runs. They get first dibs. Two, if any of those kids gets injured on Illinois property, the university is liable. I wouldn't want the DIA paying out because a coach lost track of an athlete.
Finally, if a high school team is walking through in a parking lot, some one in their DA's office failed to secure practice space for them. I don't think it's the DIA's responsibility to clean that up, either. That's not our bad look, it's the high school's.
