If he does those four things, he will be picked very high. That said, it's probably more realistic to really work on two of them.
I think perimeter defense and passing are probably the two biggest priorities. Though they're rarer than they used to be, there are some big men in the NBA who can't shoot. What an NBA team probably can't abide is a defensive liability on the perimeter and a situation where the offense stalls out if the center gets double teamed whenever he has the ball.

I pretty much agree. If he can pass out of the post and learn to switch on defense, I think he goes in the first round. That's plenty to add in one off-season.

But If he were to somehow show a 10-12 foot jumper or even a post move outside of just dunking, he moves way up. It's obvious he's not going to dunk like that in the NBA.

Bold prediction time : Goode will be a starter next year.

I want to hear some hot takes. Justify your take. Or don’t .

Food for thought. Is Goode more ready to contribute than Grandison was last year? Grandison started a lot. Goode is about the same size and can shoot lights out. But he's a freshman & not B1G battle-tested. Interesting ...

I think he will be the most ready to contribute as a frosh this year. He has the highest floor and lowest ceiling out of all the freshman.

It takes time as a frosh. I remember playing collegiate soccer as a freshman. I made a huge leap frosh to soph year. The diet and nutrition at ILL has to be amazing. The body is still maturing at this age.

WRT Goode… I think his frame looks to put on muscle. I think he fills out to 6’7 225 next year. A very good shooter. He can hit contested shots. Lots of variables, but I can see him being the starting 4.

I agree. Based on those projected measurements and his shooting % , he could be a draft pick in a couple years.

If both Grandison and DMW are used at the three then there are minutes available at the four and Goode sees some minutes but not as a starter.

Paducah, Ky

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. — Shortly after Illinois wrapped up basketball practice at State Farm Center on Thursday morning, coach Brad Underwood shouted across the court to get Da’Monte Williams’ attention.
The fifth-year senior, along with fellow fifth-year senior Trent Frazier, was scheduled to speak to the media. Frazier had just finished his session, and Williams was up next.
“Hurry up!” Underwood shouted. “I’m trying to get out of here.”

“It’ll hit me before the game,” Williams said. “I can already picture it. Me and Trent just sitting in the locker room talking and then just going from there.”
The guards are the only two players on Illinois’ roster who have been with Underwood since he began his tenure in 2017-18.

However, Underwood believes the program’s recent success still wouldn’t be possible without Williams and Frazier — two guys who might not have NBA scouts reaching out to them, but two guys who helped him establish a winning culture.

“(Williams) is who we are. He and Trent are back for a reason,” Underwood said. “It’s one more opportunity for them to enhance their legacy here, enhance what they want to be remembered by. And again, they’ve been here since the onset, since it was rough. And it was a proud moment for me as a coach to see not just Da’Monte but Trent come back as well.”

“(We want to) make a run again. That’s our whole thing. That’s why we wanted to come back,” Frazier said. “Obviously we lost (some) players, but I thought it was important to come back and be part of an older group with Kofi and (Andre) Curbelo being back. I think that’s important, us being a part of this team.

“We can do some special things again.”

----------------------------------------------------------------------

Thank you Trent and DMW for all you have and will do for the Illini program....it's been a pleasure to see your dedication to the program ...........

Go Illini

He could very well play that well, but it seems unlikely that they would put three Illinois players on the first two teams. If that happens, we are winning it all. 😄
I like where this is going…. Here is my complete list of bold predictions!

Kofi all big ten first team, first team AA, Kareem Abdul Jabbar award, BTPOY, NPOY.
Curbello all big ten 1st team, first team AA, Cousey award.
Trent 2nd team all big ten, BT defensive player of the year.
Damonte leads the league in 3 pt percentage back to back years
Luke Goode BT freshman of the year
Plummer 6th man award
Hutch has serious back issues all year, but still an NBA lottery pick(obviously)
Payne breaks Hunter Dickinson’s nose during the National Championship game - No call from Bo Boroski leads to the ejection of Juwan Howard. Illini win National Championship after going 39-0 on the season.

If anyone other than Kofi, Belo and Trent win any form of Big Ten award, including honorable mention, freshman, or defense, but excluding academic awards, then I think we will be a Final Four team. But I really cannot see any of our frosh getting an award, since I cannot see any of them starting. Has a non-starter ever made an all-freshman team?

Well, uh, technically last year...

Belo, Zach Edey, and Keegan Murray all came off the bench

OK, I have the memory of a fruit fly.

I will still stick by the other part of my prediction - a B1G award of any sort to someone not named Kofi, Belo or Trent makes us a FF team.

Pray it's two games, our non-conference is pretty weak, but our C depth isn't great either. Wouldn't want to face Marquette without him.
I think we'd be okay. Marquette isn't supposed to be that strong this year -- I don't see anyone ranking them in the top 75. Shaka will likely try to run his pressing full court defense. I expect we can eat it alive. We have the ball handlers. We have the 3 point shooter, we have the people who can dunk a lob.
