[QUOTE="Burt Toast, post: 1303374, member: 11220"] You are right! The recruiters are your assistant coaches! Why? Because they are the only ones who can go off campus and recruit. Don't waste a spot on this so-called X and O guy as if Antigua or Jamal don't have those abilities as well! You want guys with regional relationships who can sell your program to 15-18 year olds. This is your sales force essentially. You don't need an operations manager in the field. The X and O guys and player development gurus are your support staff! Sometimes you get all of this and a recruiter to boot! That is a home run assistant! That's also why you see a lot of older coaches (Judson, Nottingham) etc. who may not have the recruiting chops comparatively to a young up and comer but bring more to the table via Big 10 experience, successful X and O rep, player development, etc. Our support budget allows for getting those type of coaches. Chin is > than Chucky BTW! I don't doubt Chucky would be a good hire but understanding the dynamics of our situation you need to go with the one who gets you in the conversation in Chicago!!!!! Specifically when you see what Cuonzo and SLU is doing in St. Louis. That's why it's great to have Jamal and Orlando to tag team that region.
