I'm almost positive it's going to be Indiana. They were one of the original 9 conference games on our 2020 schedule, but were dropped when the 8 game schedule was released. Guess we'll know in a few hours.
It's IU.

Well, I tried doing the easy way to solve the scheduling issue, but the B1G had other more complicated ideas. As is the way.

For reference, here is what the old 2022 schedule was:

Sat., Aug. 27 Wyoming
Sat., Sept. 3 at Wisconsin
Sat., Sept. 10 Virginia
Sat. Sept. 24 Chattanooga
Sat., Oct. 1 Michigan State
Sat., Oct. 8 Minnesota
Sat., Oct. 15 at Penn State
Sat., Oct. 29 at Michigan
Sat., Nov. 5 Purdue
Sat., Nov. 12 Iowa
Sat., Nov. 19 at Nebraska
Sat., Nov. 26 at Northwestern

Much happier to have Indiana as our crossover opponent. And now we open our conference slate with them rather than Wisconsin? We made out of this in a way better position.

The only opponents that have been changed in the revised schedule: Illinois plays Indiana instead of Penn State; Indiana plays Illinois instead of Northwestern; Northwestern plays Penn State instead of Indiana; and Penn State plays Northwestern instead of Illinois.

FINALLY the Iowa home game is not on that awful Saturday before Thanksgiving!! So sick of bringing my Iowa friends to a freezing cold game when fans don’t show, the students are out of town and Grange Grove is a shadow of its September/October self.

As a side note, we probably have the biggest decline in game day atmosphere as the season progresses. Ghost town in November, but Grange Grove in the early fall is LEGITIMATELY cool.

Winning will wipe out that decline.

Under the old schedules, the Illini were to meet Indiana in 2023 and Penn State in 2023, 2024, and 2025. Be interesting to see how the revisions to those years affect those meetings.

The good: replacing Wisc with Ind week 2 gives a a chance to go 4-0, build some confidence and fine tune a new offense
The bad: @Wisc, Iowa and Minnesota. Let’s hope that confidence pays off and can win 1 of these
The ugly: @Neb, Mich St, Purdue, Nov 19 in freezing Michigan, let’s hope we are healthy and they are looking ahead to O$U
Gotta find a win or 2 in there, Minn, @Neb, Purdue
Then go to NW and pound them again
