Knowing Ayo’s personality, I have to believe this was a joint decision that Ayo and Donovan reached, not something Ayo would unilaterally decide to do.Ayo will not be playing in the NBA Summer League... looks like I will just be tuning in to watch Kofi... and maybe Malcolm Hill? I've seen no mention of Giorgi getting a summer league invite by the Nuggets. I have to think he might have better options overseas than the G-League.
Vocal Terry ready to bring energy for Bulls
The Bulls formally introduced first-round draft pick Dalen Terry on Monday at the Advocate Center. Terry was professional for his news conference, but Bulls boss Arturas Karnisovas hopes the 6-7 forward continues to be the loudest player in the gym.www.dailyherald.com
Ayo skips summer league:
Bulls coach Billy Donovan said Monday he does not expect Ayo Dosunmu or Patrick Williams to play in the Las Vegas Summer League.
Williams is no surprise, since he's heading into his third season, when most players graduate out of summer league. But Dosunmu is a mild surprise as a second-year player. The feeling is the former Illini star got so much playing time as a rookie, there isn't anything more for him to show.
Dalen Terry honoring Ben Wilson?
He played lots of minutes last season and will probably play a lot in the next considering Balls’ condition. It’s best to save his body by not participating in the Summer league.Knowing Ayo’s personality, I have to believe this was a joint decision that Ayo and Donovan reached, not something Ayo would unilaterally decide to do.
I don't believe all of the dust has settled yet... it seems like Plummer should get a Summer League invitation but those rosters have not been finalized yet. https://therookiewire.usatoday.com/lists/2022-nba-summer-league-roster-tracker/I have read through the NBA draft thread and now this one. I have also done google searches but I cannot find what happened to a few Illini, most of whom declared for the NBA draft. So, what happened to Alfonso Plummer and Austin Hutcherson? And also Da'Monte Williams although I assume he did not declare for the NBA draft. In fact, I cannot find anything about what he is doing post Illini. It does not look as if AP or AH were drafted but did they end up somewhere like Kofi? Or are they still looking? Just curious.
Thanks
What does this mean?
Assuming this means 1.58 milli would be his salary if he stayed on the NBA team the whole way but it'd be significantly lower if he was on the G-league team - someone correct me if I'm wrong
I'm no NBA expert, but I don't think it works that way. I think Malcolm gets half the rookie minimum salary (about $500K) and there's a limit of around 50 actual NBA games he can appear in. The contracts aren't guaranteed so the player can be cut at any time, but there's a minimum of around $50K that the player will receive even if they're cut early on.Assuming this means 1.58 milli would be his salary if he stayed on the NBA team the whole way but it'd be significantly lower if he was on the G-league team - someone correct me if I'm wrong
But what does the restricted free agent part mean, and why would that start on 7/1 vs the end of a contract?Assuming this means 1.58 milli would be his salary if he stayed on the NBA team the whole way but it'd be significantly lower if he was on the G-league team - someone correct me if I'm wrong
I know the salary used to be dependent on time spent in NBA team but I think that was before they raised 2 way minimum to half the league minimum, and the rules now are what @chrisRunner7 explained. Since this is a qualifying offer, he's able to negotiate with and sign an offer sheet with another team, which the Bulls can match. This seems like a great situation. At worst, he's got another year on a 2-way deal, and a more lucrative one than last season at that. And he still has a chance to negotiate with other teams for a full NBA deal, if anyone happens to be interested in him for that. Very happy for Malcolm!Assuming this means 1.58 milli would be his salary if he stayed on the NBA team the whole way but it'd be significantly lower if he was on the G-league team - someone correct me if I'm wrong
The name "Javon Freeman-Liberty" jumped out at me. The Google says he's Marcus Liberty's nephew.
Gobert traded to the Timberwolves
I'm seeing some twitter buzz that Jazz are going to make a play for Ayton. Probably a sign and trade. Also seeing speculation the picks Phoenix gets in such a trade could be flipped to Brooklyn for KD.Really have no clue what the new coach plus this trade will mean for Kofi's chances of making the roster in Utah. Walker Kessler is the only clear center being sent to Utah and he's a fellow rookie, albeit a much better defender than Kofi.
Sources: Jazz trading Gobert to Wolves for 4 1sts
Minnesota is sending its 2023, 2025 and 2027 picks unprotected and a top-5-protected 2029 pick to Utah in exchange for Rudy Gobert, sources told ESPN.www.espn.com
The Utah Jazz agreed to trade center Rudy Gobert to the Minnesota Timberwolves in a blockbuster deal that will pair him with fellow All-Star big man Karl-Anthony Towns, sources told ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.
The Timberwolves will send Malik Beasley, Patrick Beverley, Jarred Vanderbilt, Leandro Bolmaro, No. 22 pick Walker Kessler and four first-round picks to the Jazz, sources said. Utah will acquire unprotected picks in 2023, 2025 and 2027 and a top-five-protected pick in 2029, sources said, in Danny Ainge's first franchise-altering deal since taking over as the Jazz's CEO midseason.
This deal was done to clear the way for Ayton. More or less trying to swap him in for Goebert. So if that goes through there won't be much of a difference PT-wise compared to when Goebert was there.Sounds like the Jazz are trading Goebert.
Leaving just Azubuike and Kofi as the only centers on their roster.
But not just that, really the only players with any size.
I am sure they will not go into the season built like that, but maybe Kofi gets some run this year?
Edit: They also picked up Kessler and Vanderbilt in the trade. But if they dont add any more size, again, sounds like PT at C might be wide open.
