Blown away how they can be 8th in RPI and not even receiving votes in the AP and Coaches.

Because the RPI is a flawed metric, especially early in the season. Think their around 65th now after a 3-game losing streak entering Big Ten play.

I thought Bollant was going to be a home run hire. I want to be confident in saying they can turn it around in the next two years but it's looking very bleak.

Recruiting top-notch players, outside of White, has been unimpressive.

Go Illini!

Annnnd now 7-7 after a 31 point home loss to unranked Minnesota. All of our major sports are a joke.

Seriously. Even volleyball, who we can usually count on to be great, had a disappointing season compared to how they were projected. 2015-2016 is shaping up to be possibly the worst year ever for Illinois sports.

I did expect the women's basketball team to be awful this year with everything that happened and all the players who transferred. Just imagine how bad we'd be without White. I think Bollant needs to go, and I'll be surprised if he's back next season.

This team like the mens is so short handed, they only have 7 scholarship players available and 2 walkons. 2 of the starters are banged up, many times its freshman and sophomores out there. Even the two seniors have only 1.5 years (playing) on the team. Losing their top freshman to a knee injury a couple weeks ago has really put this team in a bind. To their credit they scrap to the end. Hopefully with some reinforcements next year, they can turn it around. The freshman and sophomores have some talent, just not enough for this year.

Fair enough, but the roster lost its depth when Bollant let his mad-dog assistant coach off his leash and run off half the team - and that's if you believe his hands were clean.

Illinois lost at Nebraska to up the losing streak to seven games. Nebraska hadn't won a Big Ten game this year before that. Like Groce, this is Year 4 of Bollant's program. Fans should expect more, regardless of the circumstances.

And I just realized I used "their" instead of "they're" in an earlier post.

Alexis Viliunas from the volleyball team was added as a member of the women's basketball team. Interesting.

Mainly to help in practice, was in uniform yesterday on the bench. Hope she gets in at some point. Pretty rare now days to see an athlete on two different teams.

I'm glad to see that the Illini women are doing well. Maybe they'll cross paths with my Irish in the NCAA tournament. And if so, hopefully in the Final Four...!

8-12 overall and 1-8 in conference is doing well?

Lost 15 of the last 16 games. Currently on the second 7-game losing streak of the season. Have won 1 game in two months. Will likely finish last in the Big Ten. Major scandal which helped lead to the DIA operating in the red.

The new AD has an easy option for his first task. Then focus on finding a football coach. Then evaluate Groce in a make-or-break season. All the while shaking hands with donors and fundraising. There's your itinerary.

I guess the fire watch begins now that the season is over.

I knew this season would be ugly after we lost some key players as transfers. We had almost no depth and very few Big Ten level players. I feel bad for Chatrice White, she looked like one of the top players in the conference, maybe even country, yet we finished dead last in the conference. I wouldn't be surprised if she transferred, but I really hope that doesn't happen. Honestly there's no excuse for not firing Bollant last year. I'll be shocked if he's back next season.

It's a little sad since she's an McDonald All-American. I hope that whomever is the HC will convince her to stay and build a team around her, though I'd understand why she'd want to transfer to a program with a chance of a winning season once she graduates.

Maybe Bollant is dismissed and Whitman pulls another "Lovie"? I wonder what's the landscape in women's college basketball recruiting when compared to men's.

Don't see an avenue for Bollant. I'm sure Whitman will pick a good candidate, but highly doubt there will be an instant impact Lovie-type.

I'm surprised that to my knowledge Whitman has neither fired Bollant nor given him a vote of confidence. Given the way that he handled football and Men's bball, this limbo status is odd. Any insights, anyone?

He's too busy at the BTT and visiting with Tilmon and his mom right now. ;) I expect we'll hear something pretty soon.

Since basketball isn't his forte and women's bb is even less so I suspect he is studying the terrain and consulting with folks he trusts. Might even repeat the "fire on Saturday and hire on Monday" routine after getting it lined up. Quick turnarounds may be his m.o.

I'm more of a men's basketball fan than women's. I never ever watched them play a game. I watched men's over and over again. But I regret that. I started watching the highlights on YouTube and they are not bad at all. They are fun to watch but I'll never like them better than men's basketball. But White is a beast 1000 career points in only sophomore year. That's insane
