I chuckled at the BT headline trumpeting the Illini sweeping player-of-the-week in all categories, when only one other team was in contention, and no one on that team particularly covered himself in glory.

I'll grant you, however, that Cam Taylor-Britt and Connor Culp were battling it out between themselves to best Blake Hayes for Special Teams POTW.

Good one. Doesn't that seem like a long time ago?
Mad props for that. [EDIT: Sorry. RedRocksIllini gets the credit]

“You take out 21 points on three plays and we’re in this football game.”

That made me rofl. Our program was a sitcom with that guy in charge.

Tim Beckman. Wes Lunt. Yes, thank goodness that does seem like a long time ago.

Man, I miss that lovable buffoon. (and by "miss", I mean not in the least)

One thing that I thought about was Tank and the Illini conditioning. Seemed were were able to punch them in the gut and they looked spent - especially on defence - in the second half. Lots in play - heat, time of possession, and so on - but our guys held up. Good rotation of players and good conditioning seem to come into play in the game.

Is it just me but I think it is rather generous of these sports reporters to say Neb got it within 1 score. I mean I understand that technically they could score 8 but if they were down 24 points (8*3) would you say they are only down 3 scores?

I would, it is accurate because Nebraska still had a chance to tie. It would still be a one possession game if they had gotten it down to 7 with making one of the extra points they missed.

I would say 1 score is safe to say with an 8 point loss. I would shout it from the rooftops if the illini were down 16 and scored as time expired, made a 2 point conversion, and still lost by 8 to ohio state. I'd run around buckteeth land shouting that we were a score away from winning.

I thought the same about the conditions on the field. You didn't see a lot of guys falling and cramping. Now maybe when they went to the sidelines. I love the Beckmanisms. They are a hoot. I don't remember, but who else was in the running for the HC when Beckman took over with his lasagna meals. I am glad we have moved on to BB. What a breath of fresh air for the football program, recruits, and the school.

My one critique, don’t pancake dudes into your own guys legs.
Honestly, to me it was an ok block, but it was bad defense more so. You can’t overrun the play and lose your legs like that. “Pancake” should be reserved for when defensive guys end up five yards down field on their back.
