I can't remember the last time I had that much fun at an Illinois game. I haven't been this shocked by an outcome since the Minnesota game in 2014. I thought this was a dead team but that win was anything but fluky. Just a thorough dismantling of a team that was favored to beat us by 10 points. Not sure if that says more about us than Minnesota but that team, while inexperienced, definitely has talent. If this defense can just stop being the worst defense in the B1G then I can see this team getting to a minor bowl game next year. I said the exact same thing last year about this offense and Rod Smith was clearly a fantastic hire. What a great job by the OL, Corbin, Brown, Bush and Stampley. Allegretti was especially impressive and it looked like he was playing on another level. You could see how much this game meant to him. The defense did about as well as you could possibly expect them to do at this point given all that is going on with this program, especially after they gave up the first two touchdowns. It was nice to see them get some pressure on the QB, Morgan, who did not look very good. Not sure why they kept bringing in Green for the wildcat but that wasn't very effective either. Just keep it competitive in the final three games. 4 wins was what I was hoping for when the season started but the road getting there has been bumpy to say the least.
