[QUOTE="oskeewowwowboomtime, post: 2000686, member: 631447"] To which I would add that Skyy Clark starting from the jump as a freshman under a one-sided ill advised NIL deal never would have occurred if you look at the way Brad has traditionally coached and his refusal to rely upon a freshman guard. When that was followed up with Jayden Epps AAU selfish playing style and his refusal to return to a game when Brad told him to do so, it felt like Brad had completely lost his way. I was shocked that he continued to play him after that. The offense never resembled his traditional concepts of a more team oriented fast paced passing game. Indy Illini Fan and other insiders would obviously know more, but my thought at the time is that Brad had hired some very good recruiting coaches and was trying to accommodate their representations during recruiting as to playing time but it simply didn't work and left the older players like Coleman incredibly frustrated. Chemistry matters and roles need to be defined and that never occurred. This is not a defense of Brad as he was ultimately responsible, but it never felt like he was on the same page as his staff and his players as to how the team played on the floor. In addition, he was clearly not having fun or enjoying what he was doing. My take that night was that Brad was saying to himself, "Enough". I wouldn't put up with this when I was coaching at Daytona Beach Community College and I certainly am not going to put up with it now that I am the head coach at Illinois." Since then, his fingerprints are all over everything having to do with the program and it obviously shows. What a remarkable change! Last year's team never remotely reflected his personality.
