Great overall game. Last week we saw outstanding defense against Rutgers at the rack. Last night we saw outstanding offense shooting 63% from the field overall, 40% from 3 and an amazing 90% from the foul line. We know what this team is capable of but we also know they can not show up for a half. If they can play with consistency and I am not talking about shooting 60% every night but moving the ball around quickly finding the open man not being afraid to go to the basket, you know this team ball can go far into the tourney. Let's not let this great game fog our eyes on the next opponent. Remember last year they upset UCLA and then TEXAS but lost their mojo by playing "MY BALL" the rest of the year where they were humiliated against Missouri in the Braggin Rights game. Tennessee is tough, they play physical basketball and will be on their home floor. It will be a tough road test in a crazy environment. If the Illini can take care of the ball, shoot a decent % from floor on 3's, get to the basket and make some free throws they could pull off another upset. It would be great if they could find that 3rd scorer to take the pressure off TJS and Domask. I have been critical of Hawkins during his career at Illinois. He is capable of scoring but one thing I have noticed is he is so hesitant, so undecisive when he gets the ball and by the time he decides to shoot he is not really shooting the ball but merely tossing it up. He needs to get the ball turn and shoot in one motion, quit 2nd guessing your next move and let the game come to you.
