Do you want wins with "neanderthal" or do you want to watch a bunch of mismatched odds and ends try to play whatever offense that was under Smith?
Would much rather see anything other than the neanderthal. "Other than" gives us a chance and something other than a repeat of Maryland and Purdue.

I don't understand the reasoning behind BB making that pronouncement about the OL. Even fired up, most of those guys don't have the talent to play big ten ball, and the freshmen are still in OL development mode and not expected to make a contribution. You can't put it on all on the players... some of the blame has to go to the current coaches too. BP, for instance, is having by far his worst season, as a super senior, in a system that's supposed to play to his strengths. Is that all him, or is there something going on with how they're coaching/managing him?

2 of those losses could/should have been wins if he would have gone for it on 4 and short. Imagine how differently we would feel right now if we had 4 wins right now insread of 2.

As for wide receivers, no one here or on FB has mentioned that they agree with my opinion that Bhebhe made a huge mistake leaving the college game. Not drafted, and then one team threw him a bone then released him. He should have stayed and tried to be All World catching and scoring. But no.

I'd like to see Johnson get a shot behind center. I do not want to see IW. He does what Scheelhaase used to do (before his senior year), and that is take the snap then pull it down and try to jitterbug, usually for little gain. We have running backs for that. Nathan learned to be a real quarterback his senior year and was great.
Agree, Bhebhe should have returned to college.
Disagree, he should have returned to Illinois.

Should Bhebhe have stayed at Illinois? No. Do you think if he was on this team he would be improving his draft position? Maybe you could make an argument that he should have transferred to another school, but I’m not sure that even if he had a great year he would have been drafted. There are plenty of WRs that have good stats that don’t get drafted. If he was a good enough prospect to get drafted, scouts would have seen that from his time at Illinois. Another year and some improved stats might have got him selected in final round, but he wasn’t going to work his way into a 3rd rounder or something. He’s playing (well practicing) football and getting some coaching while getting paid. I’m guessing he really doesn’t have any regrets.

I figure bb's words will lead to a capitulation and we lose Saturday by a bunch or they will take it as a challenge to prove him wrong and play a strong game. Time will tell.

After listening I don’t see a problem at all. He was responding to a question and gave a reasonable response IMO. Regarding player development, someone asked an unnamed player what the biggest change was TY compared to LY. They said they were actually learning how to play football this year.
Did “someone” ask an “unnamed player” anything else?

Help me understand something here. Is one only a "hater" if one criticizes a coach while they're still employed at Illinois? Once they've been fired, then criticism is fair game? Just trying to get my head around who is and who isn't a "hater".
No. Not at all. We all know im talking about the folks that don't give the guy a chance to build their own team. The glass 3/4 empty folks. How miserable they seem

I don’t think it was relevant who asked but it was one of Werner, Wagner, or Prince. Don’t remember who’s podcast I was listening to. They would be doing their last interview if they named the player. If you doubt the veracity of the comment, fine.

Or, the guys will stop listening to what he has to say.

BB started out on DAY ONE recruiting in the state of Illinois. He knows this is what it takes. Are we going to win with his incoming freshmen? Well, are we winning with you-know-who's outgoing seniors?
Recruiting every high school in the state isn’t just recruiting every high school in the state. There’s a lot of “our state, our school” promotion in that. You get the local high school coach on your side, you’ll have everyone in that town in your side.

Jeez, would I love to see the support from the general public in Illinois for the Illini like I see here in Pennsylvania for the Nittany Lions.

No, he is not wrong. Pretty darn accurate.
Well, it sure took him a hell of a long time to figure out his QBs suck then. Coincidentally right before getting smacked down unless the D can save us. But let’s ignore the tiny wide receivers with no speed or route running issue. Let’s also ignore the lack of play calling to get the ball quickly out of the QB hands like we saw in the scrimmage.

One note about all the transfer stuff, there will be a substantially higher percentage of Bielema players, and older ones, on next years roster than is usual for a second year coach.

So the usual dog and pony show about it being okay to go 6-30 before there are any expectations at all hunts even less than usual.

If we start playing lesser players on purpose and getting destroyed, there are no circumstances under which that is or can be confused with progress.

He’s known all along. Bit his tongue. And this is what he is talking about…the development of the players by the previous staff was non existent along with the recruiting players that weren’t big 10 caliber. You weirdly are agreeing with what he said yet trying to argue against it.

Typical drive by media...

Media is ridiculous. They feel if enough of them call something "unacceptable" they can steer the narrative and ruin peoples careers. Sad truth is it works half the time. Cancel culture at its finest. It makes nipple in the mouth babies feel as if they have power. Bullies on the keyboard. They don't care if its true or not, just better not hurt anyones feelings. Driven by emotion void of facts.
