Heard. Heard. That WI wanted to concede the game. IL declined. So, the two schools compromised on sending only the IL D

Line: IL -27.5

Can anyone confirm?

November 9, 2002. Illini won 37-20. Here's the recap of that game including some names from Illini past you all may remember: https://fightingillini.com/news/2002/11/9/Illini_Beat_Badgers_37_20.aspx

Illini would miss out on a bowl that season losing at home the following week to #2 Ohio State 23-16 in OT.
I remember that game (and the game against Ohio St). I felt like they had finally turned a corner after struggling earlier in the season. I listened to the game on an AM radio while prepping for a choir concert (I was a senior in high school). That Ohio state game was a heart breaker. Wasn’t there some controversial call on a TD in that game? My memory is foggy.

With a road win over the Badgers, we move to 4-1 overall and perhaps our first national ranking since 2011. Speculating we'd be somewhere between #23 and #30.

A 1-1 Big Ten conference record would also get us back to the pre-season "Expected Level" and put us solidly in contention for the West Division crown. (MSU and Rutgers home wins this weekend against Minnesota and Iowa would help immensely too!)

The O line will need to open holes for Chase better than they did last night . Wisc front will be a lot different than Chattanooga. I did not see the Wazoo game against Wisc. What did they do to stop Wisc run game?

I think our defense will be hyped for Wisconsin. I hope our offense is ready, steady, and productive. Keeping the Wisconsin D on the field and offense off the field should lead to an Illini victory.

I know nothing about the psyches of college football players, but seems like last night’s performance — especially on offense — has to have helped lift confidence. They were doing things that Illinois hasn’t done for awhile — certainly not while any of these players have been in an Illini uniform. And that performance by O has to give the D more confidence too knowing they might not have to carry the entire load in order to win.

Totally disagree. Dramatic upset, get their heads big.

The last thing we want is an angry desperate team fighting to keep their season from imploding at home. Unfortunately that will almost certainly be what we get.
The Illini have a semi-bye week for extra preparation (Bielema owns bye weeks) against a vanilla offense. And the Badgers will be beat up by OSU. I’ll take the healthy and prepared team over the desperate and beat up team any day.

This feels like a freebie in terms of taking a legit swing at a game we aren't expected to win on the road.

Wisky -7 maybe? I would be surprised if it's double digits.

If Wisconsin is frisky against Ohio State (lose a close game), it could be double digits. If the final score is something like Ohio State 38 Wisconsin 10, then your prediction is a good one.

Illini OT TD (or game-winning TD late in regulation) waved off. Front page photo next day clearly showed Illini receiver with one foot in bounds. Replay came in the next season.
