That means Beckman "lost." $250k is a parking ticket to DIA, they probably spent more on his 2012-15 visor collection. If he had any decent leverage the University would have spent more just to save the cost of filing a meritorious summary dismissal motion. The fact that Beckman's lawyers couldn't even strong arm the University into agreeing to a non-disclosure clause is further evidence. "We're writing down a number on this sheet of paper, Mr. Beckman. I suggest you take it because it won't be offered again."

And so that's the end of that. It will be a while before we hear that name again.

Do you know how much lasagna you can get for $250K? This is a major wint.

About 17,895.4 90oz Stouffer's Party Size Lasagna's with Meat & Sauce. Since you asked the question I was gonna post I figured it was only right to find an actual answer.

So where does this guy go for a job next? Who wants to hire a coach known for abusing his players?

As someone who does some employment law, this is a surprisingly low number. My guess is more time was spent negotiating the press release than the terms of the settlement.

Although I wish the U of I could've be able to do it without giving him another dime, I am happy to see the pathetic Beckman chapter of Illini football finally completely closed.

Apparently Urban Meyer has a opening for "Guy Who Hangs Around Urban Meyer." It's a non-paid position but it gets you past the doorman at the NFL combine and he'll take you out for wings after practice sometimes.

Let's see....

Settle with Beckman? Check
Make women's bball allegations go away? Check
Deal with three arrested basketball players? TBD

Whitman is aggressively dealing with issues that have cast a dark cloud in the press over the last few months. I'll be very interested if this coincides with any new developments with Tate/Nunn/Black.

Best $250K spent. Just like Lovie said yesterday (paraphrase), I know how professional players should look like, I can teach that, and I will be talking about the NFL I have earned that.

This is a sad ending to a bad book.

$250,000 may seem like chump change but to the average worker at $37,000 a year that would be 6.75 years of pay just for screwing up.

This is my last and Final Post on Beckman.
