How many high school coaches are there in Illinois? What's the math and hours spent on this outreach? Just curious how long this will take. I like this approach. It's bold and hope it pays off!

BOOM! Feed my ego.
I don't know about higher end recruits but I know I trust this staff a heck of a lot more than the previous one to identify guys with traits that they can develop
No doubt. A few weeks into the job and this coaching staff is embarrassing the previous. After all...

Its just the head coaches and being split up amongst the staff....and it'll be a 5 minute phone call max.

Better not forget someone in this age of twitter lol. But in all seriousness, this staff has not missed a beat. Still the honeymoon phase but damn are they doing everything right so far. It's actually pretty impressive. During the search, there were A LOT of people that hated the idea of Bielema. He seems to have pulled all/most of those people into his corner pretty quickly.

I can get on board with #famILLy.

But #buILLthere is a stretch.

Love the focus on reaching out to in-state coaches though.
To me it feels like we are trying too hard on some of this stuff, but if the recruits like it who cares what I think. The message is on point.

Agreed. On plain practicality, it's not an economic use of time, but that isn't the point. Branding matters and this is a great message.

Keep an eye on ...

Joe Brunner and Sebastian Cheeks

Is this just speculation from a (likely) mistake post about a top-100 recruit? Because Brunner would be the best commit at Illinois since 2007. Getting a commit from out-of-state, from beneath a program churning out pros at his position, and within a couple months of a new coaching staff would be wizardry beyond even Zook in his prime. Even Cheeks would be an incredible grab. Getting either over the next 12 months (or any recruits ranked similarly) would be a coup for the new staff (and make me think really hard about reassessing the program's long-term hopes).

Ignoring the obvious benefits of getting a top-50ish talent to Illinois: Imagine the firestorm this would create for Wisconsin fans if Bielema got hired at the worst B1G West program and immediately grabbed the top ranked state of Wisconsin recruit. Would increase the heat between the two fanbases.

Let's just find every strategic word with "il" in the middle of it and replace it with "ILL"

#bodILLygains
#fertILLeground
#noceILLing
#naturalabILLity

Neither of them has committed yet, right?

The sad thing is I have to believe the majority of power 5 programs operate this way. We were just hoodwinked and bamboozled into thinking the last few staffs were actually working!
