Was MySpace a thing back then? No, not quite old enough for the Moeller era, wild what he managed to eventually do elsewhere. At least he finished above Northwestern every one of his 3 seasons...

I think my first Illini football and basketball game was in 1980. I don't remember the Moeller era, either.

80's were a blast. Still drives my addiction to all things Illini FB, BB...and women's VB.
If Wisconsin can get to where they are currently from a bad program pre-Barry, why can't we?

We've yet to find our Barry.
Big 10 is a lot stronger than it was when Barry came on board. Having said that, BB is our best coach since Mackovic, so I expect him to be pretty successful once he gets established. It doesn't hurt that he coaches in the weakest division in the P5

Intrigued to see what position he will play at the collegiate level. Looks like a perfect fit for Illinois.
Kaden is around 6-2 and 4.55 in the 40
Has the hybrid build to play in the slot, TE, LB or S. I have never seen him play on the defensive side but looks like BB is putting in OT already for the 2023 class.
Another recruit making his second visit in about a month. Three-star DL Brian Allen (originally from Woodstock IL) supposedly on campus today per Werner after taking an official on June 18. According to 24/7, might be between Illini and Iowa.
Kaden Feagin picked up an ND offer. Good test for BB. These are the types of recruits he'll need to land to be successful
Any recruiting news? Really hope we can snag allen and no clue what chances we have but manghams deciding soon. Other than those 2 recruits I’ve seen nothing, was hoping someone knew more. Plus this threads been real quiet lately so figured it needed a pick me up.

I had hope for Blackman after his runs at Denver and Dartmouth. But alas, it wasn't to be with only one season over 500 for the Illini.
He had to deal with some brutal schedules - it seemed as though every year they played teams like USC, Washington, penn State, etc in the non-conference and always played UM and OSU in the conference. If he could have coached with present day schedules he would have won 7-8/year without much problem
I had high hopes as well... You'd think with 22 winning seasons under his belt, he'd have done better... One thing I always loved was that he always (ALWAYS) had a super-trick play to use in every home game...

This is on point. No cupcakes in the non conference games. Big Ten record in six seasons...24-23-1. Played OSU and UM every year and went 0-12 in those games. 24-11 against the rest of the Big Ten! Beat Iowa 50-0 one year. Usually got off to an 0-3 start against a brutal non con schedule. Blackmon was a very good coach.
