NIL might affect that, but certainly still a possibility. I just was curious if he’s ACTUALLY said anything that would say we have no chance.
He had an interview a few weeks ago with Scott Burgess. He really only mentions the Illini when asked specifically about local schools. UK, Gonzaga, Duke, Michigan were the first ones that came to mind when they asked him about recruiting. It doesn't seem like he is a hard "no" on the Illini, but we have a LOT of ground to make up.
On Illinois: “Ain’t nothing like home. It’s Illinois, so I’ll always have that as one of my options for sure,” said Taylor.
Like others have said, he may not even play NCAA.

I’m as high on Epps as I was Curbelo. Kid is going to be ready to take over Day 1.
Everything I have seen on Epps shows him as nearly the opposite of Curbelo. He appears to be a score first, and score second guard with mediocre passing skills. A shooting guard with handles good enough for serious drives to the rim.

By your very own statement, it appears you are absolutely, positively NOT “all about loyalty.”

I do not disagree with you, though.
Standing idly by as you get taken advantage of doesn't make you loyal. That makes you an idiot.

Loyalty is a two way street. It is also the place I spend too much time reading random people's thoughts on player minute allocation and what prep teams were great in the 60s-80s.

Wow! High praise...I need to watch more video! I love what I've seen, but I remember when I dove into Curbelo's video after he committed...I said he'd be a lottery pick after three years. Can't wait to see it all play out!
Said the same thing about AC after watching his video when he verballed here. The second his jump shot is consistent, he's a lottery pick. Not sure if it will happen by the end of this upcoming season, but if he figures it out this season then he's gone!

Only if they include his fro in his height. 6'1 in shoes is gonna hurt him.

Yes, their games are very dissimilar-but Epps is definitely a lead guard at the college level. A Frank Mason comp has been tossed around-I actually think Mason’s backcourt mate at KU, Devonte Graham, is a better comp. Epps wired to score.

That's not going to be enough of a deterrent, provided Papi shows progression in his game, primarily the ability to hit outside shots at a respectable percentage.

Agreed.

To the PG doubters: Epps only viable path to the League is as a PG. I'm sure he realizes that. I'm sure he's going to work on his PG skills (like the dawg he is) to maximize his chances. Whether or not he makes it, he should be a VG PG for us (and that's the floor).

This. There’s a reason Kansas was after him—he fits the Self mold as a lead combo guard with a lot of quickness and respectable outside shooting. I think the fact that Epps is ranked ~60th in his class despite not having elite verticality actually underscores how good his game is. He’s that dominant despite not hanging out above the rim.

Do you take a Fears or Pettigrew to run along side of Epps?
