Saw some sites that had Illinois as the favorite - so I wouldn’t count us out

Not a 3 pt threat, but a solid addition for Rutgers at the 4. There are players still out there it appears.

If both Huff and Casey wanted to commit today, which one would we take.

Huff seems to be on the rise, while Casey has fallen quite a bit in the rankings. So I guess I would go with Huff, as we’ve had several “fallers” not live up to their rankings in the past (Shaw, DJ Williams, etc.)

I guess I am drinking too much kool-aid. This assessment appears rather pessimistic to me.

With All-American center Kofi Cockburn now gone from the Illini, the frontcourt is effectively just Florida transfer center Omar Payne, sophomore reserve Brandon Lieb and several undersized power forwards. While this team has done a good job reloading the backcourt with Utah scoring transfer Alfonso Plummer, there’s a current lack of balance that makes them a bubble team at best and one that can be easily schemed against.

This article also says we're a "bubble team at best," describes Kofi as already being gone, and describes our front court as Payne, Lieb and "several undersized power forwards." Not sure it's the most reliable info. Not sure we want it to be.

Back court bottom half of the B1G, front court top 5. So at best is closer to 5 in the B1G and no where near the bubble.

I mean, people can assess the roster however they want. I don’t think this list was “who would benefit most” because there are a multitude of teams with worse options at the 4. We do have a weak front court presuming Kofi leaves, and I’m not sure the order is based on our perceived struggles.

We do well as the underdog.

Also - most people outside our fan base don’t know much about BBV and Coleman. And both were on the roster last year and didn’t play a ton. So they probably figure DW and JG are our “undersized forwards”.

Sure, but my point was I don't think anyone who says we're "borderline at best" to make the tourney and thinks Lieb is our 2nd most notable front court player is a reliable source for handicapping this recruitment.

Yeah I guess it depends how heavily they weight the criteria in their ranking. One component was fit, but other components were rumored chance of landing. If that was near the top then surely I could see it.

From an outsiders PoV, we are, if the rumors hold, losing 2 all Americans and a third starter in Adam Miller. Most teams after that much loss will look like a bubble team.
