I don't have thin skin at all. I just think these jokes have become stupid and I'm hoping he doesn't have thin skin. If you want to keep making them go ahead. I'm just telling you I think they are silly and sophomoric. Hopefully he's not insulted by them.
I’d kill to go back to sophomore year. If it helps my wish to come true, I’d be willing to keep the jokes going.

If they're aware of the jokes then they are probably aware that the punchline is not Hutch; it's the posters who are anointing him a superstar before he's even played a game.
I am not anointing him a superstar but he does have the ability to be a solid player and a solid defender with his length. He would have been our best outside shooter last year and would have been more effective in spreading than floor unlike Williams who needs a calendar to time his release. Not slamming Monte but his shot speed is slow. Great defender but was a liability on offense.

I definitely wouldn’t call Williams a liability on offense. He only takes good shots. He doesn’t turn the balls over. His defense often creates offense.

I get that. But teams know they can slack off him and get back to guard him before he gets a shot off. Having a guy 6-7 with length who can shoot lights out would have been huge against team like Maryland and Loyola. Loyola KNEW we are were not a good 3pt shooting team. They defended accordingly. Took away Ayo and his dribble right, shut down the passing lanes and created havoc for our shooters.

He's from the Dominican Republic and was being recruited by OA.

He had this to say about Illinois:
“I really like the program and what they are doing there. The assistant, coach (Orlando) Antigua, how he treats people, I like talking with him.”

Guess he's a Kentucky prospect now.

Doubt it. OA better recruit better players to UK than he recruited to IL

I think Damonte will be even better this year. If he hadn’t had the serious injury in his senior year of high school, we would be talking about a completely different player. We saw it a little last season. I think he’ll be more aggressive on offense. I just respect the heck out of guys like Damonte and Trent.

Hopefully Hutch has thicker skin than you. Anytime the media hypes up something that people have not seen yet, this is bound to happen. These jokes are harmless. I think he and his family will survive.

Sports are one of the few fields where you're basically taught to be a professional from an early age. There are far more cruel jokes than people teasing these absurd expectations the media has laid out (e.g. He is the best shooter!, the only person who could keep up with Ayo!,guaranteed starter, etc
Plus can build up his popularity on the team. Its fun. There’s no bashing. I think he really is a great player who I believe will contribute from day 1. Im pulling for him...Hopefully something great can turn out of it.

It’s awesome to be able to hop on here and get so much info on recruiting....or the skill sets of players already on roster, Austin Hutcherson and his families feelings, and speculation of whether their on this board.

Are we talking about Weaponized DMFW? The best 3pt. shooter in CBB?

Asking for a friend.

Probably overdue and inevitable, and will work largely to the benefit of the top couple of dozen programs........BUT the handful of top programs with the wealthiest 'Boosters' will be able to game this system to funnel serious money to recruits and players. Any concept of a 'level playing field' in recruiting will cease to exist.
Frankly, I think this could be the beginning of the end of the NCAA. They have not led on anything for many years, and have become an organization that reacts rather than getting out front. NIL is just one example. The fact that state legislatures are taking this up instead of the NCAA developing a solid policy to preserve its outdated idea of "amateurism" shows just how weak the organization has become. They're more concerned with mascots and imagery than they are about issues that really affect players and member institutions. They suffer unforced errors (women's BB tournament workout room) because they can't get out of their own way to even pretend like they care about anything other than the P5 conferences. Their recruiting rules are unevenly enforced, resulting in schools like Kansas being unafraid to show them an upraised middle finger when their men's BB program is accused of five level 1 violations, and extending Bill Self, going so far as to say that he will not be fired even if found guilty in the investigation. No one gives a s**t what the NCAA thinks anymore.

If I were someone powerful in college athletics, I would approach the commissioners of the Power 5 conferences and the Big East (and Notre Dame), and form a new association consisting of those conferences. 74 institutions that could dominate the college athletic scene with a more streamlined association than the NCAA. With those conferences as members, I think the new association would keep its focus on athletics (and counting the crapton of money they would make), and worry less about social justice. As a result, what's left of the NCAA would have to fight the NAIA to remain relevant. Sure, it's a pipe dream, but a good one.
