I have watched the Illini since Manny Jackson. This is the best recruiting staff I think Illinois has ever had! They have the knack of finding players that at first we say: "WHO is that guy!?" I can't believe we gave HIM a "ride." THEN we see him play and say: "This staff knows what they are doing!"

I mean, I don't disagree with the sentiment, but we offered Baye Fall in November, when he was a 5* ranked #7 in the 247 composite, and like 5 months after Kansas offered him. Not exactly looking under rocks to find this kid.

It’s crazy how crazy how bad technically his leg positioning is as he rises up and he’s still that good of a shooter. Like his upper body is in a totally different angle from his legs.

That’s going to stick with me for a long time. I was heartbroken after the tournament loss, but in no way did that tarnish my joy cheering on one of the great Illini teams. I hate that players are unhappy and leaving, but I wish them nothing but happiness and success (unless they’re playing against Illinois). We just need to step back and not get caught up so much. I mean, admittedly, I had some evil thoughts about the Michigan State kid that took out Ayo, and also for most (pretty much all) of Iowa’s basketball team, minus Garza, who I actually like. Anyway, Liddell obviously did nothing to deserve that treatment. I hope our fans never act like that.
Jimmy Collins was awfully good...as was Dick Nagy. But, I would put this staff up against them. If tragedy hadn't struck with Ben Wilson we would have moved into the title discussion every year. Then, SATAN did his thing and we fell back from the height that this program could have gotten to.
And, with growth plates still open...
If we are playing the speculation game, what if, Liddell talked to Kofi last night about his intentions? There may be a reason why Liddell isn't in the portal, yet. If Liddell is the one making inquiries to an Illini player or to the staff, then may be, he is waiting for Kofi to announce one way or the other. If Kofi comes back, it is possible that Liddell could go into the portal where the Illini can legally talk to him. I don't buy that he was just there to watch a spring game where his good friend is playing. He could have told people that he was just there for that. But what if he is sending a message? Could be a very interesting few months.
