I’d assume to finalize…some people still believe in face to face relationships
Sure, nothing beats face to face for many tasks, but I don't think he'd be waiting until he could do face to face such that he withdrew from Montverde BEFORE consulting with the staff. Trying to meet in person is nice but not at the expense of experience.

Perhaps too literal, the risk of a message board.

Just curious if the timing had anything to do with his visit. Seems like it would. It’s a big decision that I’m sure the staff would have been involved with. That’s all.

Edit: my post being Ill-formed is what I mean above by “too literal”.

I see no problem in him graduating early and starting to workout with the team. Would give him a head start on the schemes that we want to use.

Oh, also time with Fletch.

It appears Dravyn has transferred again to Word of God Christian Academy in Raleigh, NC. I know he has transferred a bunch but he wasn't getting a ton of tick at Montverde and when he was in he was basically playing entirely off the ball. We need him to get as many on ball reps as possible.
This mentality (transferring due to playing time) doesn’t bode well for Illini long term. Willing to put money down that he doesn’t stick around our program long due to minutes his freshman year. But a lot could happen and I’m always happy to be wrong about these things.

Well he is the last guy on the bench. If he is the last guy on our bench, yes, he will absolutely transfer. He wants to play. I want him to play. He's not going to develop on the bench.

Under that theory, should we just have a 9 player roster? Not everyone plays. That’s sports.

have you been awake the past 2 years? Have you not seen that seemingly half of college basketball is in the portal every year? It's the way of the world now.

world of difference between a guy in his senior year transferring for lack of minutes and a guy as a freshman. And by the way, I'm a bit skeptical on him as well. The Purdue stuff just doesn't sit well with me. But this transfer seems like a smart move for a guy in his position and certainly is good for Illinois.

I’ve been awake for about 2/3 of the last 2 years (I’m an 8 hours a night guy) and I understand what you’re saying. I’m not saying he wouldn’t transfer. I’m saying more athletes on the end of benches should bust their asses to not be on the end of the bench.

Everyone over the age of 40 fully agrees, these damn whippersnappers these days live in a different world

Same high school as the best high school player I have ever seen with the ball in his hands...well, maybe Oscar compares...and that would be John Wall.
