I disagree wholeheartedly...the content of this board has consistently demonstrated that there is no substantive correlation between Illinois fandom and histrionics of any kind.
This ^^^ The young man in the photo seems relatively reserved compared with the Loyalty Chicken Little contingent. (There I go again with the with the ancient allusions from the days long before the wheel... er... Netscape browser... was invented.)

Count the number of posts expressing concern about the lack of a proven, non-injury-clouded answer at point guard for this upcoming season. Compare that to the number of posts implying that our team will somehow magically adopt the skill-sets of the 2022-23 UCONN Huskies and that we'll somehow be be fine without a lead guard who can shoot, particularly given that shooting was one of our greatest issues last season. I think you'll find that the later well outnumber the former. I think there's consensus that we've build some outstanding talent both for present and future in the frontcourt. I also haven't seen a single post calling for Brad's head. I also feel that it's fair to question how recent transfer recruitments will address glaring issues with our team.

How is Johnson (decommit from Kansas) any different than Reeves (Kentucky - saw him at ISU)? I believe, both are primarily wings which is Illinois' strength. TBH I haven't heard of Johnson before this weekend and don't know much about him. If either can play PG then there should be interest.

Johnson is a combo guard who can play point meanwhile Reeves is a wing

Where are we at realistically with Johnson or Reeves?

I wasn't referring to the many considered, thoughtful posts expressing concern about the program's challenges last season and the challenges the staff has had in navigating portal talent. Anyone on here for any amount of time notes that a nontrivial number of posters blow matters well out of proportion on a consistent basis. Some are regulars at the bar. Others flit in and out with an I-told-you-so/The-sky-is-falling predictability that mimics the motions of hummingbirds.

And perhaps I've been looking at a different site these past several years but lots of posters were calling for BU's head consistently in March (not to mention during off-the-hook game threads) in complete disregard for his accomplishments in fairly quickly extinguishing this dumpster fire of a program he inherited from JG and building something impressive. The rabbit hole that Sean Miller-to-Illinois-NOW!!! swiftly became is an example. (Not saying I'm not a fan of Sean Miller.)

Some are prone to catastrophizing: they're the ones to whom I refer. Many, like you and me, aren't. It's not binary. It's a distribution with, IMO, a fat negative tail. Many of us are fans of BU while recognizing his blind spots. Some turn small negative impulses into high-amplitude jeremiads. As is often the case elsewhere (just look around at the culture presently), the loudest and most strident, even if a bats&*t crazy minority, have an outsize negative effect on the vibe here.

I was right with you until your imprudent vituperation of us bats&*t crazies.
