The Illinois Volleyball season kicks off tonight at 7pm and they will play two (10am - 7 pm) matches tomorrow. Lots of new faces this year (5) along with a red-shirt freshman.
Note if you are going and buy a ticket to sit in the balcony, avoid the west side. Nearly 80% of the seats will have either major or minor obstructed views, due to the renovation. I'm still scratching my head to why they did what they did.

Illini sweep Arkansas 3-0 to open the season.

Tough loss against Stanford today, losing 12-15 in the 5th set. Would have been a huge win to make up for our bad loss last week. At least we showed we can compete with a top 10 team.

Illini miss the tournament for the 2nd time in 5 years. With recruiting classes always ranked high, not sure why we are not seeing it on the court.

I really thought they would put us in the tournament, usually 10-10 in Big Ten play with an over .500 record would be enough. We got snubbed IMO. Still, we should have been much better than a bubble team with the talent we have. With the top blocker in the nation in Bastianelli and probably a top 5 setter in Poulter, you would think we'd be much better. Underperforming the talent level seems to be a theme in Illinois sports recently.
