At this point, it's the Sweet Sixteen. We've waited 19 years. If you've suffered through all the lows this program has produced over those years you've undoubtedly lost way, way more sleep due to our poor play. It's worth having a late coffee, changing your schedule, and figuring it out.
Absolutely. You bet your !!! I’m pulling another 5am’er because of my poorly-timed Euro trip 😂. I didn’t wait 19 years to get a few more hours of sleep.

"Up till midnight" - hah. Win or lose I will be wired for hours after that game. Fully expect to finally pass out at 4am.

The officiating has been my biggest concern since the tournament tipped. If it gets officiated like the A&M/Houston game last night, ISU will get boat raced.
What you and everyone on this board should really fear is any B1G official getting assigned to this game. And don't worry ISU fans, B1G officials treat everyone equally, that's why they're hated by the entire conference.

This is exhausting.

You haven't seen an offense like ours this season. And we haven't seen a defense like yours. Pretty hard to predict what will happen on Thursday. But trying to compare program histories certainly isn't going to get us any closer to that particular goal either.

Good luck. Should be fun.
Yup…I don’t understand going to another board and arguing silly stuff like this that’s not even relevant to the game. You know you’re in enemy territory so be respectful or it’s gonna turn into a s***show. And that goes both ways - I wouldn’t advocate for any of us to go the ISU board and start arguing that we have a better program

Who should we be paying attention to defensively for ISU?

Iowa State has 4 guys that average double figures.

Keshon Gilbert is a UNLV transfer Junior who will take it to the basket hard. He will occasionally knock down a few 3's but doesn't shoot them often. He is a long 6'4" and will probably take quite a bit of time guarding Shannon. (13.7 ppg)

Tamin Lipsey is the engine. He is the second leading scorer, 2nd leading rebounder, and leader in assists. He has 27 assists to 4 turnovers in postseason play (conference tournament and 2 NCAA games). He also has transformed his shot from shooting 20% from 3 last year (5-25) while starting 33 of 33 games to 39% this year (44-112). Leave him open, he will knock it down. Will also drive the lane and is a bulldog getting to the hoop. (12.5 ppg)

Milan Momcilovic is a freshman. He has one of the most unguardable shots I have seen in college basketball in quite some time with his Dirk-esque fadaway which he utilizes on the block quite a bit. He also has a heck of a 3 point shot (36% on the year) but had been in a slight slump until the conference tournament. If he is hitting right away, look out, that will open up the entire offense. (11.2 ppg)

Curtis Jones is the last in double figures of the Cyclones and is the 6th man. He is a decent 3 point shooter (34%) but has really been shooting well the last 4 games (43% on 10-23 shooting). He is a spark plug and will come in along with Hason Ward as first subs off the bench. (10.6 ppg)

Rob Jones will not offer much offensively but will basically neutralize your best rebounder. He won't get a ton of rebounds himself, but his positioning is top notch. (7.8 ppg)

Tre King is fine, he is very streaky. He did hit 4-7 3s against Kansas and went 3-3 from 3 against Houston so he can't be totally left alone. (8.9 ppg)

Hason Ward is a great rim protector, if he can stay clear of fouls. He also will get a few lobs for alley oops generally. He is 6-9 but has a 7'4" wingspan. (6.2 ppg)

Demarion Watson will get a few minutes as well, he wont offer much offensively but is used as a defensive stopper. Also, very long, 6-6, with a 7' wingspan. (1.9 ppg)

Hope this gives you all a little idea of the team.

Lipsey terrifies me, he's a lot like Jahmir Young I feel. Can score from all over and is elite in ball screen offense. He will give us fits.

Something I'm interested in is how this game puts to the test BU's current philosophy regarding what is most likely to generate success in the tourney: stout defense or blistering offense. Early in his time here, BU seemed to put most of his eggs in the defense wins games basket. That naturally led to getting bounced multiple years while struggling to score in the 60s. But starting this year, I've heard him talk about how he's switched over to believing that scoring points is the key to tourney success. Well, he's certainly succeeded in constructing a team that can score a lot of points this year. Let's see what happens when the new plan meets the old plan.

You mean Jahmir Young who we torched in College Park? I'll take that.

There’s no one.. and I mean no one… on ISU who can stop Terrence.
I wouldn’t disagree. The thing you need to know is we don’t have a lockdown defender. That being said, it’s the double teams and traps that takes teams out of their flow. If you take 7 seconds to bring the ball across, then spend another 7-8 running your offense and at that point iowa state puts on an effective trap, now you’re getting low on time even if your trapped player gets the ball in play.

There‘s nothing special about it. It seems to happen so sudden. Players get rattled. It’s not like this is the brand new thing in basketball. It’s just the Cyclones way of attempting to get the upper hand when we literally don’t have a superstar on our roster. We have 9 guys that can contribute. Any one of those 9 on any given night can be our player of the game. If it comes down to fast pace game you move on. If our traps disrupt your offense then we have a shot. I don’t understand how we’re favored. Truthfully I wished you were favored.

That euro guy that comes off the bench…I dont think I’ve seen him miss a shot in the tourney yet. If he adds some muscle he’s a future NBA player.

yes some of the takes I read were laughable. someone said they had lived in Chicago for 14 years and the Iowa state fans there were more passionate than the illini fans and that they doubt there will be more illini fans than ISU fans in Boston. obviously that person must not get out much. another said Chicago only cares about pro sports and notre dame. as for the fanbase talk, if I'm not mistaken UIUC has one largest alumni bases in the nation. there is no dearth of illini fans and they travel extremely well
Maybe they’ve only ever been to ISU bars in Chicago (I’m assuming they exist) or Illini fans are just smart enough to avoid that particular poster all together.

But I’d hate to be graded by the craziest post I’ve ever made on loyalty, let alone the craziest post that anybody has ever made on loyalty.

Our offense is dependent on teams trapping Domask and finding cutters or shooters. Guerrier, Goode, Harmon, Hawkins, Shannon… will take & make those shots or cut to the rim.

Haven’t seen a team/player/anyone able to stop TJ in transition…

And if you’re not going to bring 2 on Domask, he can give you 30 with the booty ball….

Good luck lol.

An Iowa State University bar in Chicago would seem to be an awfully small market.
