Notre Dame isn't that good and poorly coached. Brey checked out a few years ago. Illinois will still win.
Maybe we will win. I certainly hope so. But saying that Notre Dame isn't that good is only half of the equation. How have we looked recently? Personally, I would say anywhere from "not that good" to even "bad" at various points. A team that is consistently "not that good," with a full roster available, could easily destroy us in our current situation. As a fan, I'm not sure we can expect any easy wins at this point (until our starters are healthy and available again). Lest we forget, we recently struggled against something called UTRGV.

I still think UTRGV sounds like a urinary tract viral infection.

If Belo and Trent are out, I would predict a double digit loss. Realistically, it's just hard to run much w/o your guards, especially PG. Hopefully, we get those two back soon, or things are going to get ugly.
Don't think so. I think we play with some fire that has been missing lately and win.

If we aren't healthy by the Arizona game? No Belo, no Trent, no Grandy? The Wildcats are gonna beat us like a mule they rented outside of Tucson :(

I say we have Coleman Hawkins bring the ball down part of the time and start the offence. He is a decent ballhandler and can pass over a defender if they press him! We can create some miss matches that could blow up in our face or work to our advantage!! Between him Hutch and RJ they would be difficult to trap and may create a lot of fouls from an over aggressive response or it could blow up in our face!;)

Hutch being thrown into the fire at the start of this season. I'm hoping something clicks with him asap.
I recall saying a few weeks back that I wasn't concerned about Hutch being a capable PG because it seemed extremely unlikely we'd need him there with Curbelo #1 and Trent #2 on the depth chart.

Someone other than Kof and Plummer needs to be a double digit scorer and hero tonight.
I am thinking that this is one where Goode goes off.
Something just feels right about it.

We will need four Illini in double figures I believe.

Looks like flu shots will be mandatory next year, lol. This is getting farcical with the bodies out—hope the boys keep their heads up and tread water until they mend up.

Honestly, how are flu shoots not manditory already. Jeez o peat

In fairness, flu mutates so quickly that the shots are only like 60% effective on average and it varies year to year based on the dominant strain. Sometimes it's almost bulletproof and sometimes it only helps a little. So, they could all be vaccinated and it wouldn't matter much. They probably aren't, but they could be.

If the bug keeps running through the team and we’ve got a couple of other random injuries for the next few weeks I’d love to see Keith Randolph show up. Not because he’d be all that helpful just walking off the street, but my feeling is that if things are gonna be bad, they might as well be weird, too…

Illinois is still at -4.5 at Vegas. Home crowd will carry Illinois to win against a meh Notre Dame team. They'll be fine. We will win.

Last I checked, it was 6.5. Not sure how anyone can be confident in the outcome though --the team has really struggled with injuries and off night performances. That Marquette loss was such a head-scratcher --good lead lost, but up with the ball and the shot clock off at the end, and they still lost. That's the kind of game that sucks out all the confidence.

I'm not usually concerned with the outcome --I just like to see them play well (which usually gets nets a W depending on who they're facing).

Given that we’re a bit light on primary ball handlers, I’d expect to see ND execute a press on us. Not sure if we’ll see a full court or 75% press but that’s what I’d do to us rn.

The game will definitely be close with all the injuries but you all should stop overrating Notre Dame. They are not that good lol

They’ve had a couple down years in the last few, but Brey is not a bad coach and they are absolutely capable of beating us, especially with our injuries and poor start. That said, I still think we manage to pull this off, but that’s gonna depend a lot on how well we can control the ball and defend.

It would make for a compelling narrative, though. One that would be on SportsCenter and one we can really lean on. Shoot, Texas A&M built an entire brand around this sort of thing for their football team based on a practice squad player suiting up mid-game to fill in for some injuries in 1922.

I can't believe the entire U of I athletic department doesn't get flu shots . . . but look at football with Josh and now BBV. Jeez, just line up at Walgreens and git er done.
Since when does a flu shot stop the flu? Just like with Covid vacinnes not stopping breakthrough cases all over the same can be said with flu shots that are normally only 1/3 effective every year.
