Illinois was playing so poorly last night that I did not even notice the announcers. In week one, I know that some were complaining abour Matt Millen, but I thought his comments were insightful. I much prefer the Big 10 network announcers, because they actually know the league. As a Cardinal fan, I mute most Bally broadcasts, because I cannot stand Brad Thompson. I know that is a minority opinion when you read Cardinal fan pages.
General rule of thumb. Illini fans complain about all announcers. Except alumni announcers. Unless it’s Stephen Bardo. They’re sick of him too.

With FOX Big Noon Kickoff coming to Champaign next Saturday, does that mean Gus Johnson and Joel Klatt will be our announcers for the Penn State game? I'm really enjoying their broadcast of Colorado-Nebraska and how impartial they are. The announcers we have had the first 2 weeks, in my humble opinion, were not impartial and were just not good. The announcers can make a game so much better.
Don’t know if this has been confirmed but at the tail end of the Nebraska-Colorado game the announcers said they would be in C-U for next week’s game but that the studio show would stay in Boulder.

It’s probably a good thing they aren’t coming. It would have been an embarrassing student turnout.

Not getting the studio show live from Grange Grove would be a travesty, but typical Illinois disrespect. I hope Bielema would use it as motivation
Honestly, we didn't hold up our end of the bargain these first 2 games, so makes sense they'd pull it from us vs. something they are sure will get the national audience's attention. If we're 2-0 and ranked they'd keep it in Champaign. But we're 1-1 and from a national viewpoint (and even a fan viewpoint) we're at risk of being blown out. So while it's disappointing, I unfortunately get it. Hard to get the big game treatment when you aren't looking big game ready. :-(

I hate to agree, but we just aren’t ready for it.

Hopefully we get there as a program someday, but not sure if we have the donor support to compete in this insane NIL era (at a high level).

Without that, the wins will be average at best, and the fan support will be about what it has been.

Gotta admit, I'm a little jealous of what Prime just did for Colorado. The place is buzzing like it hasn't in years. Not quite sure how the FOX Big Noon Kickoff can change this at the last second, but they are a snooze fest compared to College Gameday. I gotta believe with such a poor showing last night.......well you know.

We have always been a basketball school and always will be, even in the down years. Just the way it is.

I’m shocked CU had the support to get it done, and pull in all those transfers. Good for them, and I’m jealous too.

Generally agree and I have my doubts they would have been able to keep themselves away from the Deion show even if we were 2-0.

Perhaps we could start a tradition called the "Big Noon *iss Off" in response to this slight. We didn't want them coming, anyway.

I know, and I love hoops, but I seriously worry if we don’t improve football, and stay in the upper tier, we’re going to be left behind with the Cals of the world and miss out on top media $$, which would damage all sports.

We have time to improve, but I can see football breaking away, and if we can’t get decent ratings, we will be left behind.
