Seems like a coin flip game to me given both defenses are terrible. I’d probably lean towards Rutgers given extra motivation following last year
This ^^^Honestly, there are some real doomsayers here. Yes, that game was a mess and our defense was atrocious, but we will win the rest of our games. It won't be all we hoped for, but a 9-3 season is a great season. I just hope that Aaron Henry is not part of the team after the season is over.
Doomsayers livin’ in a van down by the Boneyard eatin’ government cheese.![]()

I gotcha. Don't think we'll have enough respect to finish top 4 in rankings considering our 3 losses are all by 3+ scores, but we'll see how it works out. From a recruiting perspective, I see your point.I said "rankings wise", which just means being the fourth B10 team in the AP/CFP polls. For this program, there's lots of relevancy in being ranked by the end of the year. If you believe otherwise, it just signals how much the bar has risen.
My point is not that we're a lock to win out, just that a very successful season is still in front of us. Very little is lost by missing out on those lofty 10-2 dreams.
You can try spinning it which ever way you want, but this defense doesn’t even pass the eye test….like the old saying goes you can try putting lipstick on a pig……Just a little context to the defensive struggles. I'm still not happy with how they looked but its been against some pretty elite offenses
I'd strongly assume Robert is utilizing end of season metrics on Offensive FPI for 22 so technically those teams were lowered by playing Illinois that season which goes into ranking.Just a little context to the defensive struggles. I'm still not happy with how they looked but its been against some pretty elite offenses
Per Defensive FPI efficiency.Just a little context to the defensive struggles. I'm still not happy with how they looked but its been against some pretty elite offenses
If they lose to Rutgers at home the bottom is gonna fall out of this season.I don't see us winning this game....Rutgers has really good receivers that we won't be able to cover and rb that's pretty good as well..... I see this as the game Henry loses his job.
Why is it only the defense playing a part, and nothing on offense? Logic would say between two "terrible" defenses the better offense would have the advantage. And what makes their coach blowing the game a year ago any more motivation than us coming off two straight losses? Illinois has significantly more to prove and therefore should be the hungrier bunch.Seems like a coin flip game to me given both defenses are terrible. I’d probably lean towards Rutgers given extra motivation following last year
Listen, drama queen: stop with the hyperbole. You know darn well Williams was only able to do one of those activities in the pocket yesterday. Mostly knitting because veganism is big in Seattle, even among the football players, limiting the brisket market.Lol, like I need numbers to know that we can't tackle, D line gets little to no penetration, opponents receivers are WIDE open, and the QB can smoke brisket and knit complex Christmas sweaters before he has to make a decision.
Spoiler alert: as less-than-enamored as we all are about yesterday, the bottom is extremely unlikely to fall out of the season. If they lose to Rutgers at home the bottom is gonna fall out of this season.
