Need this one to keep bowl hopes alive. This team is close to turning in t around
Looking at our remaining schedule, a bowl berth is not completely out of the question. Will require one more upset against either Minnesota or Iowa, but Rutgers and Northwestern are very winnable games. Hopefully this win will reenergize this team like the win over Wisconsin a couple years ago seemed to do.

The shame is that the team could VERY easily be 5-3 right now.
Also not sure who is left standing after more injuries today. Art looked like broken arm or wrist. C. Brown looks like concussion protocol. Did Lowe return after his injury?

Not sure if it's been mentioned, but UTSA is 1 of 7 undefeated teams in the nation currently and will likely be top 20 in the newest AP poll. Two winnable games against Purdue and Maryland away from a very successful first season of the BB era (granted you could put both of those losses on him).
Instead of the questionable 4th down punts in those 2 games BB should have put Sitkowski in to go straight up the middle.

Ryan Johnson is 3rd on the depth chart last I heard so I would expect him to be next in line if Art is out.

We’ve seen enough from the defense to start trusting them. I feel pretty good there. I don’t trust the offense at all. Especially until I know how healthy we will be. Seems likely that BP will be starting. It would be great to see him gain his confidence and finish this year strong. I just don’t have any trust left in him after 3 years of up but mostly down performances.
I think this weekend the narrative is you can see what BB is trying to build at Illinois.
It could be “this Illinois team is for real this year” if we’re 5-3 or 6-2 with a win at #7 PSU.

I think Rutgers and Northwestern at home are certainly winnable games, but it will be tough to win at Minnesota and especially Iowa. However I did think they had zero chance last Saturday, so what do I know? The Maryland game still sticks in my craw. It could end up being the difference between a bowl game or not.

Admittedly it's not really something to brag about, but also keep in mind.......
5-7 teams were deemed bowl eligible a few years ago when we ran short of .500 teams.
