Found this interesting:

During UConn’s historic 9 game NCAA tourney run the highest seeded team they have beat was only a 3 seed in Gonzaga.

With the way we are playing (better than our 3 seed) there’s an argument to make that we are their toughest matchup over the last 2 tournaments).

Should be a fun one. Hang around for long enough tonight and anything can happen.

Interesting to me that all the talking heads who have said this team cannot win without a true point guard and still say that on every commentary about every game in this tournament have not asked about this at any of the presser's. All the talk was about how Iowa State was going eat Illinois up with all the turnovers because no true point exists. We could not win because we did not not have "true" point guard. All the media had a chance to ask a relevant question of Ty Rogers directly about this and failed to do so.

I think this can be put to bed once and for all now.

Random CT takes: My best friend has lived nearly his entire life in Hartford, CT. We spoke today and he had no idea Connecticut was rated #1, nor was he really interested. While it is an OK school, he said most people there look down on it and try to go to school out of state if they can, unless they can get into Yale (He went to Villanova). He’s also said Storrs (where the campus is) is pretty awful. While UConn does have a big alumni base of fans, apparently not many other people in the state really care. To be fair, I told him I’m not sure many people in Illinois care about the tourney either if they didn’t attend UI, but at least it’s a respected school.
As a lifelong Illini fan who did NOT go to Illinois, I very much disagree with this. There are tons of Illini fans, specifically in Downstate Illinois, that cheer for the Illini as our state flagship team.

Likewise. It would be interesting to do a poll here to see how it splits.

I grew up east of Springfield. The Illini sports teams were simply the state team to watch, as far I as I knew.

I never even wanted to go to school there. Too big for my liking.

Really impressed with the UConn board, especially compared to ISU’s online cesspool. Not nearly as active as Loyalty but some good insights and great content moderation. All discussion of TSJ case is locked down since the accusations “should play out in court” and it “isn’t the place for it”. Anyone who asks details are advised to Google it themselves. That’s class. Bravo, Boneyard! https://the-boneyard.com/
The poster whose handle is "temery" is Terry, our 'Dan', so to speak. His board and Shannon's legal issues are NOT a topic to be discussed there. They have several longtime Moderators, all of whom are great.

I hope the Illini play their best. If they do, they have a solid chance of winning.

Dan's developed a splendid online community here. Most if not all of us seem deeply to cherish that. My condolences for the loss of your parents. Whenever and however it occurs it usually seems much too soon.
