Wyoming will be 8-9 in the box. QB's will have to step up in play action.

They might ultimately get there but I'm sure they are going to play things fairly vanilla because (1) a lot of unknowns for them regarding Lunney and the collaboration with BB and (2) it's week 1, they will have questions about what their defense can and cannot do well. Going into a 8/9 up in the box also causes pressure on their defense and they aren't sure if their personnel is ready for those responsibilities. They lost a lot of starters so they're likely to try to lean on their strengths early.

Illinois 20
Wyoming 10

I hope the offense provides more points and gives the staff a chance to cycle more guys into the game than my prediction.

The dream scenario for Bielema is likely an early lead with the defense easily controlling the Wyoming offense so they can keep as much under wraps for their road game against Indiana, hence why I think the final score will not be as satisfying as we want.

I still think we run the ball on them. I wonder if they will they will try the barge formation? The pass game will be there for us.

Thanks Bill. Watching that clip again so emphatically drives home how badly we missed on that hire. (The guy was certainly trying, but he was just in waaaayyyyyy over his head.)

It also prompted me to do a google search to see if TB has landed anywhere since his 1-day volunteering stint with UNC. I found nothing.
I'd wager that the player abuse stuff pretty much made him persona non grata in the coaching ranks at every level. My guess is he's a chef at the Olive Garden with a specialty in lasagna.

Says something when Bielema is out of the college ranks for years and still has an easier time putting a staff together than Beckman and Lovie combined.
BB's rolodex is filled with people he's worked with and who respect him. TB's rolodex was filled with people who he hoped he would pick up the call. Lovie's was just his AT&T family plan.

Any guesses on how many tickets we can sell for Saturday? I'm the eternal sucker I mean optimist, so I am hoping for over 40,000. Here is what we have pulled for the last several years:

2021: 41,064 vs. Nebraska (Saturday at 12:00 pm)
2019: 30,654 vs. Akron (Saturday at 11:00 am)
2018: 31,898 vs. Kent State (Saturday at 11:00 am)
2017: 42,505 vs. Ball State (Saturday at 11:00 am)
2016: 48,644 vs. Murray State (Saturday at 2:30 pm)
2015: 36,693 vs. Kent State (Saturday at 2:00 pm)

I know Nebraska brought a good chunk of fans and they are a Big Ten opponent and all ... but as sad as this is, we actually saw a huge bump for Bret's first game! Also interesting the huge spike in attendance when we switched from Beckman to Lovie.

I'll be a sucker/optimist again and predict that enough fans will like the 3:00 pm start time, weather will be good and there will be some hangover excitement from last year's near-bowl season surprise to push our attendance just past 40,000.
