Certainly is disappointing. I hope this turns out to be a good decision for him and his family, but from the outside it doesn't make a whole lot of sense.

If you're thinking about tweeting @ Goodwin, please don't.

Hope he does well. I love his game.

Good luck to him. People are blinded by relationships way too often. Who's up next? ILL

I wish him the same amount of luck as I would wish the backup punter for Jacksonville State, or the starting small forward for Monmouth. I don't wish him good luck - that is reserved for players on my team, and I don't wish him bad luck - that is reserved for IU and Mizzou.

Already forgotten. Frazier is next weekend right? Should be back on the good news side soon hopefully.

True dat. I think most people will refrain from saying something stupid, but that isn't stopping them from unfollowing him. His followers are definitely going WAY down, not up, post-commitment. I've been refreshing for the past couple minutes and he has about 10 less every time i do.

I'm still really confused by this decision, but it's Goodwin's to make.

Wonder what the post-mortem of this whole strange story will turn up.

Goodwin was loyal. Not to Groce but to his AAU coach.

The kid owes nothing to Groce, regardless of how many times our staff has followed him. That's not the way recruiting works. He may or may not be making the best decision, but that's it's his choice, not ours.

You're right but he wasn't loyal to his state. He just went where his former AAU coach went. Forget about coach Groce. We pine for the days where guys like Dee, Augustine, Powell, Frankie Williams, McClain, Luther, Cook, etc... all stayed in-state and had pride in helping the state school get far. That's what is most disappointing. These kids don't have any pride in their state and just go elsewhere. But that's their right and choice. Hard as an alum to see it go down like that.

I feel bad for our school first and foremost. It pains me and hurts me as an alum and a 16 yr basketball fan to see kids not take pride in going to the top state school and helping the program get back to its former glory years. It pains me almost as much as it pained me to watch the last couple of years.

But, I have hope that there are kids out there who want to help make our program better in the future. Tilmon was a big get and we all thought that would've helped cement Goodwin's seat but he has something else in mind. All you can do is shake your head and move on.

This board is populated mostly by one-percenter superfans, and I'm more a football guy so I never know how off-base my opinions are as a casual CBB follower, but the A10 is just so far off the radar for me. I live in the heart of A10 country and I'd have to dig deep into my 1200 channel cable package to track down a UMass or St. Bonaventure broadcast, which I don't. In fact I have friends who went to Fordham and GW and even they don't care -- they're mainly St. John's, Syracuse, Georgetown and Seton Hall fans. But what do I know ...

At least this wasn't a soul crushing nut punch! This was a position of depth and not need and we still have a chance to fill it with awesome prospects.

So at least Groce has that going for him. I mean, how often has this happened to us at an insanely critical position of need? I'm shrugging my shoulders and moving on.

I hope Goodwin finds what he is looking for at SLU and if we ever play them in the tourney, I hope we beat the snot out of the Billikins. :D
