Watched Looney defend Jalen Brunson one on one in space on a possession in the 4th quarter and smother him and force him to pass out to a teammate for a mediocre 3 attempt.... That's the standard Kofi needs to be able to reach. Can't help but watch that and think "with Kofi, that's an easy layup"
I saw that play, and also thought about the comps to Looney. He defended him one on one for about 10 full seconds and Brunson, who is fabulous in 1 on 1 situations, couldn't get clear of him. I love Kofi (profile pic checks out...), but there is no way he could do that.

^ a mock with Kofi, still not seeing him show up often, but the 2nd round is crapshoot unless you know of teams directly contacting players about drafting them.

Apologies if this has been posted already…

Kofi Cockburn (Illinois) has his limitations as a traditional beast-ball big man, but he had the best per-minute game score of any player to play on both days. His frame (a rock-solid 7-0 in shoes with a 7-4 wingspan) makes him a relatively safe pick as a backup five. He’ll be in the mix in the second round for teams looking for size.

Kofi has things you can't teach and a willingness to learn the rest... Backup 5 in the league isn't un reasonable. He doesn't have to be embiid or the joker. Go Kofi!

I don't know why this caused me to go down this rabbit hole again, but it still bugs me that freakin Johnny Davis beat out Kofi for POY. If it was Keegan, I could understand it a bit more. But Johnny Davis, he of 8th best PER in the B1G, 9th Win Shares, 11th Win Shares per 40, 8th Box +/-, whose teammate (Mr. Punchable Face) had a better offensive rating (Davis not even top 20 in conference) and who put up counting stats (still less than Kofi) with the help of the highest usage in the conference? I know stats don't always tell the full story but it is crazy to scroll through the leader boards from this season and see where it's supposed best player landed on those lists. Only tops in one, and, surprisingly, it's defensive rebounds. Davis is a great player, but this just goes to show how much a narrative fashioned in early January can shape the final tally in March. Alright, sorry for the harangue -- needed to get that one off the chest after revisiting it and figured this forum is better than ranting at the wife.
