Length of scholarship commitment

I got into a discussion with a buddy about how long of a commitment a school makes to an athlete on scholarship.

I recall reading on here that it is 4 years. He claims it is year to year.

I've tried searching the internets and cannot find a definitive answer. Please help me resolve this with a link and not just opinion.....thanks

Technically it’s 4 years…..really it’s year to year though

yea, there are various ways to “encourage” players to move along when things don’t work out on the playing field.

players very seldom want to hang around a program if they feel they are not welcome , or of any value to the team.

its simply too tough of a lifestyle to do it 24/7/365 if you are not being shown any love .
