When you have the opportunity to lock up the defensive coordinator of the 27th best defense in the NFL as your head coach, you absolutely have to take it. On the plus side, he won't have to recruit.
This would be so dumb and so Texans
I just read this. Did the Texans watch the Illini play during the Lovie years? If they are wanting a black coach, there are better options.Whoās gonna tell them
Need to elevate Lovie to head coach in order to keep teams from poaching Miles.
Ooh boy, this post did not age well. They started reporting in the news yesterday that Lovie as the new coach is picking up steam. It kinda looks like it may happen now. I was sure it was going to be Flores since that is who Watson wanted to play for but with Flores' lawsuit, looks like teams are cooling on him. This I doubt. If the Bears donāt hire him first, Iād say Flores will be hired, Watsonās legal issues will be āsettledā, and heāll end up playing with the HC he wantEd to all along without having to move cities.
Although, stranger things have happened than hiring LS as the HCā¦
Since you're our boots on the ground in Houston, I gotta ask: What was the thinking with giving serious consideration to Josh McCown? I have a hard time seeing that making more sense that hiring Lovie, honestly. Not that hiring Lovie strikes me as a solid path forward.Ooh boy, this post did not age well. Will see if there is an announcement in the not too distant future...
Will the conversation start something like this......Anyone have the Texans GMs phone number? I need to call him. Lol

Good question. I had no idea he was in the picture until yesterday. His hiring would make zero sense with his lack of coaching at any level above high school.Since you're our boots on the ground in Houston, I gotta ask: What was the thinking with giving serious consideration to Josh McCown? Does anyone feel like he just used us as a stepping stone to get a new HC gig in the NFL?Texans hire Lovie Smith as head coach - Yahoo Sports
Lovie Smith has landed his third NFL head coaching job.sports.yahoo.com
I wish him luck. And I REALLY wish the Texans' fans luck. They'll need it.
He used Illinois to fatten his retirement account. I personally feel that he felt he was done with the NFL and he took Whitman to the cleaners. Paying a guy that's unemployed $6M showed Whitman's inexperience in hiring. Whitman still thinks he's in the NFL. He only looks at football coaches that have coached in the league and he throws money around like he has an endless supply.Does anyone feel like he just used us as a stepping stone to get a new HC gig in the NFL?
