This I doubt. If the Bears donā€™t hire him first, Iā€™d say Flores will be hired, Watsonā€™s legal issues will be ā€œsettledā€, and heā€™ll end up playing with the HC he wantEd to all along without having to move cities.

Although, stranger things have happened than hiring LS as the HCā€¦
Ooh boy, this post did not age well. They started reporting in the news yesterday that Lovie as the new coach is picking up steam. It kinda looks like it may happen now. I was sure it was going to be Flores since that is who Watson wanted to play for but with Flores' lawsuit, looks like teams are cooling on him.

Will see if there is an announcement in the not too distant future...

Since you're our boots on the ground in Houston, I gotta ask: What was the thinking with giving serious consideration to Josh McCown? I have a hard time seeing that making more sense that hiring Lovie, honestly. Not that hiring Lovie strikes me as a solid path forward.

Good question. I had no idea he was in the picture until yesterday. His hiring would make zero sense with his lack of coaching at any level above high school.

Looks like McCown and Easterby, the VP of player personnel are very tight. Apparently McCown interviewed for the HC job last year that David Culley got.

Seems like the Texans are a bit of clown show right nowā€¦

Does anyone feel like he just used us as a stepping stone to get a new HC gig in the NFL?

/s
He used Illinois to fatten his retirement account. I personally feel that he felt he was done with the NFL and he took Whitman to the cleaners. Paying a guy that's unemployed $6M showed Whitman's inexperience in hiring. Whitman still thinks he's in the NFL. He only looks at football coaches that have coached in the league and he throws money around like he has an endless supply.

Lovieā€™s demands:

1) No recruiting!
2) Unlimited jobs for family members
3) Seven hour workdays
4) Assistants can have only NFL coaching experience, or almost no coaching experience
5) We will not pressure opposing QBs
6) We will not alter our decades-old defensive schemes for any reason
7) Turnovers win games! At least twice a year
8) Iā€™m not saying any more to the press than necessary, if that
9) Just so weā€™re clearā€”no recruiting!
10) If I have a coordinator vacancy, Iā€™ll just be that coordinator. That doesnā€™t mean Iā€™ll be doing any additional work though
11) Field goals, field goals, field goals. And if the field goal is risky, punt
12) I donā€™t really do social media but beard memes are fine
13) My son is allowed to punch people
14) Tight ends will not be targeted in my offense
15) Letā€™s talk about the terms of the buyout

Texans: We donā€™t have a problem with any of this
