Well it certainly isn't a NBC game because of us...
Even if optimism is renewed after beating Nebraska, this one will be ugly.

Crazy to think that Maryland is in it's 10th year in the B1G and we have played them twice. With the new teams coming in next year I guess I better get used to it.

I do indeed fear you are right ... their offense terrifies me, haha. With that said, here is my eternal optimist, painfully forced spin on this:
1. We STILL have gone stretches where we look okay in every single game ... if there is still a sliver of hope we can just address these stretches where we are awful, the season is far from lost. Purdue did a number on this optimism for me, but before the third quarter, I definitely was not concerned with us as a football team.
2. What a crazy good opportunity would this be to REALLY gain momentum if we could somehow beat Nebraska and then Maryland. It's seeming very unlikely, yes, but the succession of a winnable game back at home to (hopefully) regain some confidence and a golden opportunity to get a huge win on the road back to back could be just what this team needs.
3. If we COULD pull off the upset, we'd be doing so in a great TV slot on NBC!!
But yeah ... you can just read the first couple words I typed to know how I really feel, haha.
Only reason this game gets on NBC in the afternoon is because USC/Notre Dame is that night.

Whelp, I'll be there. A Maryland grad friend of mine got me tickets for my summer birthday. It seemed like it would be a much better game then. At this point, I've seen us lose to UMD in multiple sports so many times on that hideous campus that it's becoming my Shredder origin story...

That’s not really the comparison to make, though … NBC could have picked a different Big Ten game and left us on BTN.
You really think they would move a game like UMass/Penn State to NBC?

Honestly? Maybe. We get B- ratings when we’re meh and A- ratings when we’re good. Maryland gets C- ratings. PSU draws we’ll no matter what.
And either way, we beat out MSU/Rutgers. MSU regularly outdraws us, so the “delta” there is Illinois being a much better rating than Rutgers or Maryland by ourselves.
