NBA Offseason / Illini Playing Pro Basketball

Ex-Illini great James Augustine will continue his great European career next year with CSKA, the Euroleague champions and widely considered the best team outside the NBA.

Brandon Paul

i watched BP3 play a few games in the summer league on NBAtv. he's with the Charlotte Hornets. He played pretty well with 16 pts in first game and 11 in the second. his shot has improved (pops from nba 3) and plays good defense. his dribbling is ok but doesn't seem to be able to attack of the bounce. solid showings but probably not good enough to make a team.

Brandon scored 17 pts, grabbed 11 rebounds, 2 steals and 2 blocked shots in win yesterday (July 4). Pretty awesome stats

NBA Summer League

Did a quick read through on Summer League stats and saw Brandon Paul and Nanna Egwu were playing. Any other Illini that anybody else sees?

Paul is playing for the hornets and averaging 15.2 PPG and 7.2 RPG on 39% three point shooting. That might be good enough to get him invited to camp.

Watched Brandon in a couple Summer League games. Very active and productive both offensively and defensively. Commentators complimentary of his play. They suggested he has made a pretty good case to be considered for Charlotte's roster.

It wasn't too long ago that BP3 had those shoulder issues and I think he had surgery on them. Looks like he's tearing it up now and that's great to see.

Illinois can use more representatives in the NBA and I think Paul is it.

Draymond Green arrested for assault in East Lansing yesterday.

Not Illini news...but Illini-ish?

I agree. I always thought Brandon had the ability to be in the league. Hopefully that starts this year.

The Hornets need a backup sg, and I think BP43 is the man for the job. He has that OSU outburst swagger look all the time now. Anyone think Jeff hooked his old buddy up with pops for a shot at the big time even though BP deserves it?

Expect Meyers to sign an extension during or right after year 3 because he'll be balling out of control by then. A great deal for the Blazers!
