More infinite wisdom from the NCAA: cancel Baton Rouge women's golf regional because of water, send top six seeds to national championship, the rest of you, thanks, get lost.The spokesman said the course was "playable" but not up to championship standards, or something like that. As long as it's playable, you play it. Were you there at Rich Harvest Farms for 2017 women's championship? I was a volunteer. You talk water? I went home and started building an ark. Yet the championship was played. I really feel for teams and players whose season so abruptly ended.

I agree, both on the "play the tournament" comment and about the Rich Harvest tourney.
It was cold, wet and miserable for both the men and the women, yet the event was held.

I think (remember) the men had better weather at RHF in 2017. I wore a rain suit for women's tourney. Rain suit? It was a blotter; I was soaked down to my jockey shorts! and had a great time nevertheless. Not so the golfers.

I just think the NCAA mindset this time is: let's cancel the regional, those teams lower than a six seed wouldn't have made it to the national championship anyway. I really don't think I'm being too cynical here.

There ought to be a tournament for those teams banished from Baton Rouge. Can do? Possible? Anyone listening? RHF?

I’m also an Oregon State fan, though can’t say I follow the women’s golf team. However, I really felt for them as they were seeded 7th. Crappy way to end season.

I don't care where a tournament is played (and it won't, I'm sure) for those teams shafted at Baton Rouge. Nine-hole, 18-hole golf course? As long as it's not an a-hole NCAA setup.

Just read that Barstool Sports (whatever that is) has organized the "Let Them Play Classic" in Chandler, AZ starting tomorrow for those women's teams that got the shaft at the Baton Rouge regional.

Further, it appears Barstool is picking up all costs - travel, lodging, etc. - for all teams. Golfstat will be following the tournament.

Way to go. Well done.

Plus I've read that Whirlwind Golf in Chandler isn't charging a thing for the use of its courses and staff. Man.

This should be the goal of every private entity in the country ... make the NCAA look as stupid as possible. Shouldn't be too hard to do.

I can't believe how quickly the guy at Barstool was able to organize Let Them Play. And he and Barstool people even had to hire a lawyer to make sure the tournament complied with NCAA regulations! Amazing.

A great story. Gotta read more about it.

Golfstat report: Purdue is hanging in there. Normally I'd root for a BIG team, but all are winners at Let Them Play.
