NCAA charges Rick Pitino but not Louisville over dorm scandal

Louisville has wrapped up its media briefing addressing the NCAA notice of allegations. School officials pledged to fight the failure to monitor charge against Rick Pitino, and NCAA consultant Chuck Smrt said he didn't think vacating wins would be an "appropriate" punishment. Cardinals fans are giddy about lack of serious allegations like lack of institutional control. One local sports radio station played Michael Jackson's "Beat It" to celebrate beating the rap from the NCAA.

Utter travesty. Would like to hear the infractions committee's rationale, because this seems like a slam dunk case.

I'm sick of the way the blue bloods are treated by the ncaa. It will make it all the more sweeter someday when the Illini win in all

Wow! Can the NCAA get anything right? Pitino may not have known, but he 'knew'.

Then going after Pitino is the right move, and it is.

Now, I'm sure he will escape harsh punishment for this, but if you want to deter this behavior, you punish those actually responsible, and that is the coaches involved.

If this sort of thing meant a year's suspension for a head coach, there would be more diligence taken that it doesn't happen.

Vacating past wins and taking scholarships away from future players is totally meaningless. It's meant to indulge the sort of fan-on-fan morality play nonsense that keeps this whole system afloat. Be smarter than that.

Rationale - bad for business to go after the big $ programs, and takes resources, aka money to actually enforce rules, which are for the little guys. Slap on the wrist is always the best way to handle the PR problem while keeping cost down. Nothing to see here, thanks for watching

OK... that is actually pretty funny. IU's Albers reaction to Pitino scandal... among other tweets :D

Albers outdid himself today. Both funny and creepy.
Why The Clean Still Matters In A Dirty World

http://albersangle.com/index.php/2016/10/21/clean-still-matters-dirty-world/
As corrupt, dirty and negative things get, it is only the clean people that stand a chance to make a difference. And so on this day, when just miles south of Bloomington Pitino was lying and lying and lying, I think it’s important to point out just how lucky Indiana and its fans are to have one of the good guys on its side.
Thank you, Tom Crean, for doing things the right way.

He's the victim.
Pitino: 'I'm guilty of trusting someone'

Pitino: I'm guilty of trusting myself to not break rules whenever I want without any regard for ethics or morals. Is it wrong to trust oneself even though you have continually let yourself and everyone around you down for literally decades? Is that wrong?! Well, then I guess by those standards I'm guilty as charged!

Your welcome :D

Seriously, I wish there was some redeeming way to look at how that dirty organization of universities creates and enforces rules, but you look at the recent scandals, and maybe the only one they took seriously was the kiddie fiddling at PSU. Why? Because there was such outrage that it looked like there just might be interference from the feds.

None of this other stuff generates that level of interest, so it's business as usual (haves and have-nots each have their own treatment).

If there's a reason to think otherwise, I'm all ears.

I would think it is highly likely Pitino knew about this. From what I have read, he is extremely controlling about all aspects of his program and wants to know everything that is going on. Some coaches might defer a lot to their assistants and don't need to know all, but it appears Pitino is not that way. He sets the table for his program.

Pitino will deny, deny, deny. Wonder how hard the NCAA will punish him? Not expecting anything harsh. Something akin to a 6 game suspension. No program penalties. Joke.
