I'm actually all about coaches making killer money. But this is too much for me. He's making more than NFL coaches. You really telling me some of this money couldn't go back to the athletes?

No.

Unless you mean even better amenities, but that's still a no under current NCAA rules.

If Bama's boosters want to throw money at Saban, that's their prerogative. It doesn't make him a better coach, it doesn't make them a better team, it just locks him in even tighter and keeps him from jumping to the NFL or some other program that tries to pony up to poach him. I'm not even sure it creates an "arms race" on HC salaries because his salary is such an outlier, but time will tell.

There is still plenty of money left, they could double his salary and that would still be true. Has next to nothing to do with why athletes aren't paid beyond the current "true cost" stipend.
