Full disclosure: I have read nothing about this other than the tweet and the posts in the thread. Summer recruiting events? I guess, but is there really a need? And I’m sure the current system(s) has its issues, but will the NCAA really fix those issues or improve upon things? The summer league/exhibition thing sounds like a complete money grab, and usually when you’re talking about that it is meant to benefit the NCAA or big schools/conferences — and not the players. And for some reason I can’t get it out of my head that what these would be are in some way recruiting and player assessment camps for future transfers. And would smaller conference teams have the budgets to participate or are we talking about another built in advantage for bigger conferences/schools? I really don’t want college basketball to become the larger 50 to 70 schools or so plus some others and then all the rest — with “all the rest” becoming farm teams for the top rung teams. If NIL isn’t adjusted in some way, I think that is the way we’re headed — and I don’t think that is a good thing overall. And this just seems like a way to hasten that.
