Let the new guy hire Riley's replacement. Fired due to on field performance. Has to be kind of an awkward situation for Riley knowing he's going to be replaced but not yet fired.

Tim Miles' seat just got hotter.

Riley is definitely gone at the end of the year. Tim Miles could be too just because they haven't had much success with him. Although, I don't know how much of a better bball coach they are going to be able to get.

Whoa. Strange move with weird timing. Boosters must really have been putting pressure on administration.

And of course they get Osborne to chip in. I swear Nebraskans have a portrait of Osborne in their living rooms like KJU in DPRK.

As others said, this is a prelude to Riley getting the axe.

Gotta wonder how the football team reacts. Is it "rally-around-Coach" or "jump-off-the-sinking-ship?" Will be curious to see how they perform in the Rutgers game.

Kim Jong Un in the Democratic People's Republic of Korea. Personality cult joke. Except without human rights violations and a rogue state in Nebraska.

I hesitate to actually commit this comment to the internet, but....

Maybe Bo Pelini was right.

Early smoke is Scott Frost coming back to Lincoln (for future HC opening).

Nebraska made substantial upgrades to their basketball facility when Tom Osborne was the AD. I am surprised they have not attracted higher profile recruits. They will not have a problem attracting a coach.

Haha, okay. That's new to me.

Reminded me of this...

They still have to pay Pelini for a few more years then would have to pay Riley for a few years so paying 3 head coaches at the same time is not a given.

He has a good recruiting class. If would take a disaster to get fired.

And the AD.

If they aren't going to change coaches in football, then why did they fire him right now?

In Nebraska's world, this already is a disaster. It would take a miracle NOT to get fired.

There could be a pretty good comparison made between the Nebraska football program and the Indiana basketball program in terms of where the programs currently are, where the fans think they are/should be, and how the fans hold on to the past greatness of the program and how they perceive that they're still great today in spite of evidence to the contrary.
