New Redshirt Rule by NCAA

This will be a bigger deal for basketball than football, but I'm more optimistic about the football side of it than that article is.

There's a reason a lot of kids end up at exactly the bare minimum NCAA entrance requirements, not that they aren't capable of doing more, but that that's what they're aiming at. This will create a new target, and one I think most kids will hit.

And the best news for us is that it's a target that will put juniors interested in Illinois in a place where we can get them into school.

I don't know that is that big of a deal with the Illini. When is the last time you heard of any of our basketball commits being a question mark for grades/core classes? I think we for the most part have self monitored that. The kids we knew had problems haven't sent in the transcripts, etc. I think the kid going to St.Johns currently is an example.
