Spoon has been in several updated mock drafts inside the top 10.
Matt Miller, one of ESPN's draft analysts, had this to say about Witherspoon:
Do CB's ever refuse to run the 40 in the pre-draft process? Is that a thing?
I only ask because for Spoon anything that takes focus away from the Citizen Kane of CB tape he has the scouts watching is probably a risk worth avoiding.
Because it is a loaded CB draft and while Spoon is very fast and might outrun them all, it's all a bit random and ending up 4th in that group might change the narrative.
What events at the combine will Witherspoon do? Until the combine is over mock drafts are fluid
Has anyone pointed out that Witherspoon is tied for the 6th best odds to be the #1 pick?
10 days ago I posted this website and it had Witherspoon as the #11th best CB.....same website 10 days later now has him #2 CBCrazy thing is this site has Witherspoon as the 11th best CB. It is more likely he gets drafted 11th than that junk. Witherspoon went from borderline 1st rounder, to 20's, to 10-20 range. See what happens between more teams watching his tape, combine and 40 time. He might be one of the biggest bump ups in the 1st Round this year.

Saw this earlier in the day and meant to post it here. I’ve seen a lot of analysis and stats but this one really put it into perspective the results given a higher number of snaps. Also note the improvement going from last year’s numbers into this year

The highest level of CB play is where a guy basically just disappears from the game because the opponent doesn't even bother trying to throw at him.
That's where Witherspoon got to as the season went along.

People I talk to think he will go higher than that ... These scouts know they missed on Kerby ... They do NOT want to miss again ...
I have a tough time seeing Sydney go in the 2nd round. While he definitely can provide the hits that get fans in the seats and he should provide good run support and adequate zone coverage, I think size and speed will be a question mark for most organizations. I could definitely see a team with a desire for a hard-hitting strong safety take a flier on him earlier than expected, but I think he needs more physical measurables to lift him to the 2nd round. I'm expecting him as a 3rd-5th round pick, probably mid 3rd to mid 4th. If he stays healthy, he should have a solid career though as his floor is a valuable special teams piece even if he doesn't wind up contributing as a multidown DB for the team that drafts him, plus he'll be a heck of a locker room guy and leader. That said, if he does become an everydown safety, his weekly highlights will be must see tv.
You know he played mostly man this year against the TEs and did just fine.
NFL level TEs are a different animal in my opinion. The two NFL level TEs Illinois faced last year in Iowa's LaPorta and Purdue's Durham went 9-101yds and 7-70yds respectively. I'm really not putting Sydney down- he had a great year and should have a long NFL career, but I think how he's utilized in the NFL will likely be different than he was in college. NFL receiving TEs with their size and speed are going to be a tough matchup in man for him in my opinion. But hey, I've been wrong many a time before, and I certainly hope he can be a dominant NFL safety, I just think his measurables will give teams a lot of pause to put him in man against top half TEs/WRs in the league.
