No NHL in next Winter Olympics

The decision is that the NHL will not take a break to accommodate the Olympics. It will be interesting to see if teams will allow their players to participate if they really want to do so. The article states that the Capitals owner has already stated he will not stand in the way of his players.

Olympic hockey is (was?) always fun to watch, but I agree that the NHL shouldn't have to stop playing for a few weeks to accommodate for it.

They have been taking a break for 3-4 olympics now. Since other sports are using professionals, why not hockey?

Olympic hockey is (was?) always fun to watch, but I agree that the NHL shouldn't have to stop playing for a few weeks to accommodate for it.

They gain a lot less from it when the games are being played on the other side of the world and can only be watched live in the middle of the night.

Did they just figure that out in the 10 months since having all the Chicago-St Louis playoff games start at 9:00pm Central?

'Cuz that insight would have made things a Hell of a lot more watchable last year.

That's just a product of being an early round Western Conference matchup. The Eastern Conference games are always going to be first when there are multiple games.
