Don't know if this has been posted but a pretty good series on the scandal. This interprets the Wainstein report as confirming that the classes were established at the request of athlete academic advisors with the purpose of benefitting athletes.

I like this reference to Debra Crowder who was at the center of the scandal:

"During that time, ESPN and The N&O reported heavy use of the bogus classes by the 2005 men’s basketball team that won the NCAA championship. The editorial page editor of the News & Record in Greensboro, who knew Crowder, wrote that she was such an avid basketball fan that some losses left her so distraught she couldn’t go to work the next day."

The report also found that Crowder was upset that the frat circuit was trying to get in on some of these classes.

I don't think UNC should tick off NCAA. While I don't think the NCAA has the stones to go after them, I am sure they can find some athletic ability infractions with a little research.

The NCAA can pull the old from the Illinois investigation (was it Mike Slive?) just because we can't prove it doesn't mean it didn't happen. and slap them with probation.

That would be Chuck Smrt. I still remember that smug sob reading the findings. Just because we couldn't prove it doesn't mean they didn't do it.

Probably doesn't bode well for Cleveland State.
