Well, I love all these players and I thank these seniors for suiting up for our Illini.

However, I am ready for the post-Lunt era and the new McGee offense. I think it will get quite fun.

Colorado is #9 in the playoff rankings right now. They won a total of two conference games in Mike MacIntyre's first three seasons. That can be us, I believe it. Lovie can get us there. But man, that's a lot of bad football between now and 2019. I might have to ration the number of Fs I'm going to give for the next few years to have any hope of making it through that.

I can't remember ever feeling this positive about a losing season. I just get the feeling that this staff will start to land and develop players that will turn this thing around.

Thank you to all the seniors who represented us during some difficult years.

If we just had reasonable penalties the first few games and tied the turnovers later in the season we are prob bowling at 5 - 7

And that's against a ridic schedule

The men played hard all year long. Proud of them. That also says something about the coaching

I think kids are gonna want to come here and fight for Lovie.:illinois:

Maybe I haven't been watching the same team as the rest of you, but it seems to me this team hugely underachieved this season, and I don't see it getting any better next year. I hope I'm wrong, but I don't have a particularly good feeling about the next couple seasons.

Two observations. It seems Like i could count the slant patterns we ran this year on one hand. Against us seemed like hundreds.
How many chop blocks did we have compared to the opposition?

There's only one loss this season that really sticks in my craw. I swear we could replay that Purdue game 10 times and we'd win 9 of them.

Other than that, we did about what I expected.

This was a bonus 8 months of Lovie. His real first year begins right now.

The Illini have a knack for losing a close game by three touchdowns. Need to cut down on the mistakes next season.

I'm with you on the slant passes. As for this game. It was winnable We can't turn over the ball & expect to win. Not to mention we got a turnover from them & made a unforgivable mistake of having too many people on the field after a dead ball.
Hopefully next year, we will begin to see a turnaround.

Despite a very disappointing season, I have optimism for Illini football in the years to come. Maybe it's the UI alum and Cubs fan in me. The coaching is there...now we MUST recruit well within the state and other key parts across the country (TX, FLA, Indy, STL, etc.) to consistently get the quality athletes we need. Congrats and thanks to all the Seniors and Grad transfers who left everything on the field for us.

Seasons over. Tough one all the way through. Lovie and staff now head out to recruit and recruit very hard.

The rebuild has begun, they need this next class to be a statement class. Their guys. To fit their systems.

In some respects I could agree on the underachieving part except for all the injuries and the fact that we started playing so many freshmen midway through the season. I feel pretty good about where we're headed. Need to tweak the staff a bit and get a couple of recruiting classes done and then I think we'll see some real progress.

For next year we need to add a QB and somehow patch up the DL, that's a tough challenge.

I'm patient but want to see progress next year. The only way that will be is to bring in a transfer QB and other transfers ala Nickerson and President. Bring in some of Texas former recruiters. Also team does dumb things to many times in key moments. There is a culture of losing that needs to be changed.

This will be a test the next 3 months

After removing a couple of coaches-can Lovie find a better replacements with a full plate of off season availability.

Then, can the staff pull late top level 3 and 4 and maybe even get in on a 5 star guy. We have time to offer and NFL coaching experience to help get you in.

I think your expectations were too high going in, like many others on here. The same is true of basketball but at least for basketball we have a pretty strong roster. You can't win many games with a handful of good players and major deficiencies. Especially when those deficiencies are in key areas like QB, WR and defensive backfield. I was particularly surprised that our defensive backfield wasn't worse.

I want to thank our seniors and their families for their loyalty perseverance and effort. As someone who watched you play every home game in person for your career, I admire and respect each and every one of you. Illini for life. :illinois:
