sorry to hear that, hope the 'roids control the pain. How were you diagnosed? Seems like PMR could be hard to diagnose with the symptoms similar to so many other things.

I had no idea what PMR was so I had to look it up. Not much more than 'roids as a treatment it seems. There was another immune suppressing drug as a possible treatment option I found here: Mayo Clinic PMR

it’s often misdiagnosed .
they look for high levels of Interleukin 6 (IL-6 protein) in your blood , and that is an indicator of it along with the 5-6 common symptoms .
i’m on a prednisone plan where I will scale back 5mg per week over the next 5 weeks , until I can hopefully get by with 5mg-8mg daily for the rest of the entire year .
every morning especially , just getting out of bed is a major , painful task . but it is getting slowly better . I started the meds on 12/27. he said it is really never a quick solution , but it’s rarely a long term condition either . they don’t know a lot about it , why you get it and why/when you get rid of it .

basically primarily effects people over 60, and women 3-1 more often than men .

Good luck, hope the pain subsides.

I'm am sorry to hear this. I hope you find relief. I don't know anything about PMR. I will say that they gave my wife steroids before hanging the chemo bag. Helps mitigate the swelling. Her problem was she couldn't sleep for 2 nights afterwards. I pray this isn't an issue for you.

With my diagnosis of Psoriatic Arthritis on July 15th 2022 my doctor put me on Tramadol HCP 50 and I had immediate relief of up to 80 % of my nerve problems within 3-5 days with a dramatic relief on the very first day.........Now on up to 4 of them a day with 1 pill a day of Meloxicam 7.5 migs and Prednasone 5 migs......my problem is controlled now and I can lead a somewhat normal pru life......

I hope you find relief as constant pain is no way to lead a productive life......

thanks for the info pru

this PMR just came out of nowhere for me . nothing in family history nor my history to give me any indication this was possible .

right now , I’m on 30mgs of Prednisone daily . that is scheduled to taper down by 5mgs a week until we can get it down to 5-10 daily from 30. it helps a lot , but I still have sausage fingers that feel numb & tingly, but that’s a lot better than 3 weeks ago when it was just pain pain pain .

The Tramadol is a synthetic opioid but I don't feel any high , just pain relief....I know Tramadol works differently on different people as my best bud takes it but says he gets little relief from it.....

Good luck with the pain.....I know the sausage fingers feeling very well
..
I really really do

Bummer Mr. Tibbs. I wish you the best. If it’s inflammation based, can you explore dietary changes to cut inflammation and have a positive impact? Certain foods hurt us in that regard while others can help us heal.
