Why do they always put the tough games (OK, they're all tough) for Illinois on other-than-BTN TV?

More upset at the turnaround game at Penn St on Sunday morning. Travel to Maryland for game Thursday night, get home late, and then turn around and fly to Pennsylvania for game on Sunday morning.

Groce or the WDWS guys said the team will make Maryland-PSU one trip (no return to CU between games).

Yeah, I know. That was more rhetorical than anything else. It would just be nice to have people see Illinois be anything but a doormat.

#wewillwin

But to be honest with ourselves, we are a doormat this year. :tsk:

I don't anticipate that being the case any season in the near future as long as we stay somewhat healthy.

Minnesota just beat Maryland last week. I know Minnesota was shorthanded like us, but anything is possible.

If Illinois plays like they did the 2nd half against the Gophers, I like their chances against any team. Play hard, play solid defense, and make some shots as well.

JCL @ 75 3's. Need 10 to tie Cory.... 11 to break the record. 3 games minimum left.

Terps are not playing well right now. They re a second half team, so if we can show up ready to play for 40 we might be able to grab a halftime lead and battle it out.

Of course I am just thinking wishfully since I am going to the game.

Holy smokes. This is totally doable.

Especially if we finish between #11 or #12 in the Big Ten. Opening game would be against Rutgers or Minnesota, so the Illini would have a good shot for a 2nd game in the B10 Tournament.

4 games means averaging only 2.5/game to tie Cory. JCL has been averaging 4.0 the past 7 games. Big games against Penn State and Rutgers/Minnesota would help, since Maryland is so talented.

Minny: 5
Indiana: 5
Wisky: 0
Rutgers: 3
Northwestern: 4
Iowa: 5
Rutgers: 6

He really helped himself last night!

Probably would have had one or two more but for the foul trouble. Has been a trend lately for JCL to come out shooting well but then have to sit with two fouls. Then he got two in the 2nd and hit the bench for a good part of the 2nd. The kid is really giving effort on D but seems to get a couple fouls a game where they catch him tangled up or bashing into someone and call him on it. Of course some of those are bad calls, but I think he needs to learn to avoid that stuff. Becoming a sophomore will help too, as we know the refs look at frosh and see blood.

Congrats to JCL for frosh of the week honors. Love the effort we're getting from him; the kid cares. He's starting to drive inside fairly effectively now; will learn how to playmake/finish from there as time goes on, and when he gets that, watch out.
