A big win, lots of good momentum built, and we have to sit for 6 days, lol

Nebraska blew out Rutgers yesterday 90-56 ending both an 11-game regular season conference losing streak and a 10-game confererence road losing streak.

Prior to traveling to Champaign next weekend, the Huskers will host Minnesota on Tuesday night at 8PM in a game that can be seen on BTN.

The good thing is, we don't even have to be as good as we were last night. If we simply put two complete halves together we should win.

However, I would love to see last night become the new identity of this team. Take NU just as seriously as PU and demonstrate that we have turned a corner.

I can't imagine this team feeling like they can let down. I HOPE they don't feel like they can relax!

Yep, still no students. Student season tickets only cover games when class is in session. KenPom lists us as 6 pt favorites. I'll be watching their game against Minny with interest since those are 2 of our next 3 opponents.

On paper, this seems like a good matchup for us. Nebraska doesn't have a lot of size or depth (sounds familiar). They also rely on two guys, Shields and White, to do most of their scoring. Stopping those two will be key. I suspect Malcolm will guard Shields, with a combination of Nunn and others on White.

Looking forward to this game more than just about any other this season. Amazing what a quality win will do for the fanbase.

Unfortunately, school doesn't start until following Tuesday. Not sure if they are back.
Don't students still have a "New Student Week" in advance of the start of each semester? I recall returning for 5-7 days in advance of classes starting -- for both the Fall and Spring semesters. Always told parents it was for class registration. In reality, it was a week of partying and practicing for the upcoming Intramural season.

Sounds like a great use of your time and parents money!

Someone mentioned earlier that dorms don't open until Sunday. I'm sure there will be more students than there have been in the last few games.

I said we could beat Purdue if we shot 50% from 3 point land and got out-rebounded by less than 20. And we did.

We can beat Nebraska just by playing hard and together for 40 minutes.

Enough students roll in for this one. Illini 76 - Nebraska 59.

Leron Black

Does anyone have any idea what is going on with Leron Black's injury? He would really give the team a boost if he comes back with most of the B10 season left.

As the kids would say, "Dude they haven't had new student week for 20 years."

Appears to still be touch and go for Leron. They tried to bring him back still hobbled earlier in the season, and we saw how that went. Could be a while.

Reports on Thorne much more positive.

Fun Stat About Malcolm Hill

I've mentioned this once already, but this keeps getting better and better!

Last season, Malcolm hit 20+ points in 2 out of the first 17 games(Villanova(20), Maryland(28))). By the conclusion of the season, he had 4 total games with 20+ points.

This season, through 17 games, Malcolm has hit 20+ points in 8 contests, including two 30+ point games.

Now, there are some factors that may be skewing these numbers. With Rice/Starks on the floor, he wasn't our main scoring option last season. And of course the bulk of the work was put on his shoulders with all the injuries this year...but however you look at it, this is a tremendous, tremendous improvement.

And Kendrick Nunn is averaging more PPG, albeit through fewer games played.

This board might be unbearable if Watson has a career night against us. And I wouldn't be surprised if he does, he seems like a gamer.

OMG that would be the worst

EDIT: Ed Morrow taking it to us would be pretty rough too.
